    Do you want to fight to protect the rights of good people who may have made a mistake that shouldn't haunt them for life? The BENJAMIN LAW FIRM for DWI & CRIMINAL DEFENSE is seeking an experienced associate attorney to join our team. We want an attorney with a Missouri and Kansas license and with at least 3 years of experience in Criminal Defense, who ideally has had more than 1 jury trial as first chair. We have offices in Belton and Kansas City. We will have a new, larger office in KCMO this year, and in the meantime, our lawyers are able to work remotely from a home office as needed. We are an entrepreneurial criminal defense law firm that is on track for aggressive growth and we need a detail-oriented, highly organized, passionate, emotionally mature, and self-directed person who can take on a wide variety of criminal and DWI cases. We want to be known for helping clients come out of an extremely emotional process feeling as though they are a better person, in a better position, and that they had a team behind them that really cared and fought for them. We are growing fast, and we need an associate attorney who can hit the ground running. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand-holding. Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities • Communicate often with clients so no client claims “I never hear from my lawyer” or “My lawyer never calls me back” • Document all activity related to a case because “if you didn’t document it, it didn’t happen” • Speak persuasively in court in front of juries or judges • Set legal strategies and give advice • Conduct legal research and writing to help clients get the best results possible Qualifications: Specific Qualifications, Experience & Personal Qualities • Be persistent and relentless in your advocacy • Always try to win for the client, a “never give up” attitude • Self-starter, detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and communication skills • Strong oral and written communication skills (must have a strong grasp of grammar, syntax and vocabulary). You may be asked for a writing sample • Proficiency with Mac and MS Office applications, and prefer experience with Clio Manage and Clio Grow • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Compensation: $75,000 base + bonus
