Associate Attorney – Business & Real Estate Litigation
A Newport Beach law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in business and real estate litigation, particularly in land-use matters for multimillion-dollar properties. Our firm is a recognized leader in the manufactured housing industry and known statewide for our legal victories.
This role provides the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload, work directly with clients, and contribute to high-profile litigation matters. The firm is based in Newport Beach, CA, but may consider remote/hybrid arrangements for the right candidate.
Position Overview
The Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing a caseload of 15-30 cases, meeting deadlines, preparing pleadings and discovery, and making court appearances. The role requires a strong legal background, excellent writing skills, and the ability to handle cases independently while also collaborating with senior attorneys.
Qualifications:
- 2-8 years of law firm experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active California State Bar membership with no disciplinary record
- Ability to bill a minimum of 1,700 hours per year
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience with law and motion practice, discovery responses, and depositions
- Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills
- Experience preparing motions and briefs
- Trial experience preferred
- Construction defect experience is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of 15-30 cases, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Prepare and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
- Conduct legal research and draft briefs
- Take and defend depositions
- Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and mediations
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and trial preparation
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $180,000 – $220,000/year
- Annual Performance Bonus for exceeding billable requirements
