    The Law Office of Kimberly L. Kelly, LLC is hiring an associate attorney to handle mental health commitments and probate matters at our successful legal practice based in a small and friendly office environment just north of Boston. The associate attorney will represent clients in the District Courts in civil commitment hearings and substituted judgment hearings pursuant to M.G.L. c. 128 §§ 7, 8, & 8B. The associate attorney will also represent clients in the Probate and Family Court in guardianship and conservatorship matters pursuant to M.G.L. c. 190B, Article V.

    Experience is preferred but not required. Our ideal candidate will be able to take initiative and complete tasks with minimal direction. Law school graduates and newly admitted attorneys will be considered and seasoned attorneys are also encouraged to apply.

    Our associate will be responsible for legal work including, but not limited to, the following:

    · Understanding and applying M.G.L. c. 128 §§ 7, 8, & 8B and the substituted judgment line of cases;

    · Understanding and applying M.G.L. c. 190B;

    · Meeting with Doctors to prepare cases and discuss relevant evidence;

    · Meeting with Social Workers to prepare cases and gather relevant evidence and documents;

    · Meeting with professional and family witnesses and preparing them to testify at civil commitment hearings and/or probate court hearings;

    · Communicating with opposing counsel;

    · Filing various Petitions and Motions with the District Court and Probate and Family Court;

    · Attending court appearances for Civil Commitment Hearings and other related matters in the District Court; and

    · Attending court appearances in the Probate and Family Court.
