Responsibilities: • Provide legal advice and counsel to prospective clients of the firm. • Appearing with, and representing individuals before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for family-based matters, as well as for adjustment of status and naturalization, employment-based interviews. • Preparing filings and memorandum in support of filings before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, including but not limited to Green Card Applications, Naturalization Applications, Waivers, VAWA applications, SIJS, and other visa petitions. • Prepare visa applications for consular processing and represent clients. • Representing clients in removal proceedings before the EOIR Immigration Courts. • Represent clients in hearings at the Circuit Court in SIJS cases or other matters. • Preparing asylum applications and appearing with individuals at the asylum office for asylum interviews. • Meet with clients to prepare declarations and assist them in gathering evidence in support of their cases. • Preparing filings before the Department of Labor in PERM matters, as well as preparing employment-based visa applications. • Handling client meetings and consultations. • Prepare clients for interviews and court hearings. • Coordinate legal case strategies. • Remain aware of legislative changes that may affect immigration matters requirements. • Conducting legal research and drafting briefs, legal memorandum, motions, affidavits, arguments, letters, and responses to requests for evidence/notices of intent to deny. • Ability to manage a high case volume and meet deadlines. • Utilize web-based immigration case management system and database continuously and accurately. • Supervise and mentor paralegals and legal assistants. • Contribute to the development of firm processes to simplify work and help the team operate more efficiently and effectively. • Assist and participate in speaking engagements and seminars organized by the firm. • Open to learning and representing clients in estate planning and probate matters. Qualifications: • Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow client base • Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients • JD and active bar license and in good standing in any state (Preferably in MD). • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in immigration law particularly family-based, removal defense, and humanitarian -based immigration law. • Bilingual: Fluency in English and Spanish is a must. • Highly organized and excellent attention to detail, • Highly professional, proactive, and a team player. • Outstanding oral, writing, research, and advocacy skills. • Active listening and communication skills. • Experience with a case management system (such as INS Zoom) as well as MS Excel and/or Google Docs. • Strong administrative problem-solving and time management skills. • Must be willing and eager to obtain and secure new clients. Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000 yearly
