Job Title: Associate Claims Attorney
Reports To: Responsible Partner and Managing Partner
FLSA Status: Exempt
The Associate Claims Attorney will specialize in handling long-term disability claims, long-term care claims, and possess a strong background in general litigation, both federal and state by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Long-Term Disability and Long-Term Care Claims:
- Review, assess, and analyze Long-Term Disability, Long-Term Care claims and other claims (e.g. life insurance, AD&D insurance, health insurance, property damage insurance).
- Verify claim documents, medical records, and policy information for completeness and accuracy.
- Identify discrepancies or issues in claims and investigate as necessary.
- Collaborate with Partner to develop case strategies.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims information, claim forms and other proofs of loss.
- Draft and finalize voluntary and administrative appeals of benefit denials; collaborate with Claims Paralegal in the preparation of evidence and exhibits.
- Communicate with clients, claimants, insurers, and other involved parties.
- Supervise and/or draft legal documents, including demand letters, claims materials, and responses to insurance company and client inquiries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through effective communication and regular updates on case progress.
- Provide exceptional client service by addressing client concerns and ensuring a thorough understanding of their legal options.
Minimum Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree (J. D.).
- License to practice law in the State of NY. Admission to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
