    The Position

    Grid United has numerous large scale transmissions projects underway and is currently identifying and studying additional prospective projects across North America. With patient capital backing and led by experienced energy veterans, Grid United is in a fast-growth stage, boasting a purpose-built team of motivated and entrepreneurial talent. We are particularly focused on effective stakeholder engagement and positive involvement with communities in areas where we are working. Our growing team is seeking to add an Associate for the Commercial team to support projects throughout their lifecycle with analysis and market expertise that illustrates their value propositions, which will be used to inform internal decision making and customer interactions. This role will report to the VP, Commercial and will be located in Houston.

    Key Responsibilities & Outcomes:

    Quantify and communicate value proposition

    • Support internal and consultant-driven analyses to draw out different aspects of the value proposition of Grid United's projects by executing fundamental analysis on US power markets, producing presentations for customers, quantifying key project value streams, and providing market knowledge, particularly for MISO, SPP, and WECC.
    • Synthesize information from utility IRPs, and ISO/RTO market protocols/procedures.
    • Conduct customer research into credit worthiness, load growth, generation dispatch, and transmission system.

    Market research and design

    • Become an expert on regulated and deregulated electricity markets; utility and ISO/RTO planning; and use that knowledge to find new ways to demonstrate the value of interregional transmission.
    • Coordinate with transmission strategy, regulatory affairs, finance, and external consultants to develop and implement analysis to support robust treatment of interregional transmission in existing and emerging markets.
    • Participate in targeted relationship building activities with customers, partners, and other key stakeholders.
    • Develop and maintain a basic, practical CRM system and develop actionable customer and market insights.
    • Support due diligence and closing process for transactions.
    • Expand Grid United's ability to improve on study methodologies, and perform more complicated in-house analysis.

    • Build, maintain and value broad, and deep stakeholder relationships, plus have a personal commitment to making a difference in the community.
    • Proactively work with stakeholders to solve problems in a calm and no blame way.
    • Develop data into clear analyses in a highly productive manner.
    • Proactively learn relevant market dynamics and fundamentals, as well as project economics , and ask lots of good questions.
    • 3+ years work experience with a strong track record of success. We are very open to candidates with Peace Corps, and veteran, or other public service experience.
    • Bachelors in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Science or any related field.
