    Summary:

    The Associate Dean of Nursing provides visionary leadership and administrative oversight to the Nursing Department. The Dean is responsible for maintaining excellence in academic programs, fostering innovative teaching, and ensuring the success and development of faculty, staff, and students within the school.

    1. Strategic Leadership:

    ● Develop and execute a strategic plan for the School of Nursing in alignment with the institution's mission and goals.

    ● Promote excellence, growth, and sustainability of all academic programs within the school.

    ● Advocate for the school at the university, local, state, and national levels.

    1. Academic Oversight:

    ● Ensure accreditation standards and professional nursing standards are met or exceeded.

    ● As applicable, submit corrective action plans to OBN as requested (Rule 4723-5-9)

    ● Oversee curriculum development, assessment, and improvement processes.

    ● Support and promote inter-professional education and collaboration.

    1. Faculty and Staff Development:

    ● Lead the recruitment, retention, and development of diverse and qualified faculty and academic staff to include implementing an orientation process for new faculty and teaching assistants. Verify each nursing faculty member has a current unencumbered License.

    ● Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment conducive to teaching, learning, and research which includes faculty development.

    ● Conduct performance evaluations and provide mentorship opportunities.

    ● Ensuring regular meetings of the faculty and teaching assistants to facilitate communication and faculty participation in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum.

    1. Student Success:

    ● Advocate for and support student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives.

    ● Promote a culture of academic excellence, research, and clinical practice among students.

    ● Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

    ● Certify to the OBN in a format prescribed by the board for each student who is an applicant for licensure in Ohio that each applicant completed the requirements of a program and the date the applicant completed the program requirements.

    1. Research and Scholarship:

    ● Advance the school’s research agenda, encouraging faculty and student involvement.

    ● Secure funding and resources to support research activities and initiatives.

    ● Foster collaboration with other departments, institutions, and partners.

    1. Budgetary and Resource Management:

    ● Develop and manage the school’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

    ● Maintain and allocate resources to align with strategic priorities and operational needs.

    ● Identify and pursue external funding opportunities.

    1. Community and External Relations:

    ● Strengthen partnerships with healthcare institutions, community organizations, and other external stakeholders.

    ● Represent the School of Nursing at professional meetings, conferences, and other events.

    ● Collaborate with alumni and donors to enhance support for the school’s initiatives.

    ● Ensure and maintain compliance with all rules and regulations to include the Ohio Administrative code 4723-5, Nursing Education Program.

    ● Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
