Job OverviewLupin Pharmaceuticals is seeking an Associate Facility Engineer II to support facility and utility operations at our Somerset, NJ site. This role involves leading capital projects, optimizing facility systems, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Associate Facility Engineer II will be responsible for managing engineering solutions, overseeing maintenance operations, and driving continuous improvement in a pharmaceutical production environment focused on oral solid and liquid dosage forms.
Key Responsibilities- Engineering Support: Provide multi-disciplinary engineering expertise to address facility operations, performance issues, and develop technical solutions for facility and utility systems.
- Project Management: Manage capital projects from initiation through completion, ensuring excellence in cost, schedule, technical delivery, and health and safety.
- Integration & Coordination: Oversee the smooth integration of activities across all project phases, including design, construction, installation, and maintenance.
- Technology Implementation: Research and recommend advanced facility technologies to improve operational efficiencies.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to developing procedures that streamline operations and ensure consistency across tasks.
- Facility Maintenance Oversight: Direct facility maintenance operations, including building repairs, equipment preservation, cleaning, automated systems, and safety activities such as fire alarms and inspections.
- Utility Equipment Management: Manage maintenance of critical utilities including boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, air compressors, purified water systems, and wastewater treatment.
- Contract & Compliance Management: Oversee contracted services for pest control, maintenance, and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including building and boiler permits.
- Documentation: Create, update, and maintain important documentation such as SOPs, change controls, and qualification protocols.
- Root Cause Investigations: Lead investigations into facility or utility deviations using root cause analysis, and propose corrective/preventive actions.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within facility operations, with a focus on reducing errors, waste, and process variability to enhance product safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Capital Project Leadership: Lead capital investment projects across facilities, manufacturing, and packaging. Manage documentation, scope, user requirements, schedules, cost control, and team coordination.
- Safety Promotion: Contribute to building a culture of safety by identifying, reporting, and resolving unsafe conditions and behaviors on site.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with departments including finance, procurement, operations, supply chain, maintenance, and quality assurance to achieve project goals.
- Flexibility: Standard working hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional off-hour support as needed to interface with shift operations.
Qualifications- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related scientific field, with a preference for Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-6 years in pharmaceutical operations, with experience in facilities, utility systems, or manufacturing/packaging projects.
- Skills: Strong communication, technical writing, and project management skills.
- Technical Knowledge: Experience or technical knowledge in utilities systems (boilers, chillers, HVAC) and building maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.).
Physical Requirements- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms frequently. Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting of up to 35 pounds may be required.
- Work is performed in both corporate office and manufacturing environments.
