Job Description
NBC News Digital is looking for an associate editor to join its platforms team, working nights and weekends. The editor will curate NBCNews.com’s owned and social platforms, including the homepage and app, write breaking news alerts for the app and email, and distribute stories across social accounts.
The editor will handle stories from all newsroom sections, including breaking news, politics, business, sports, and lifestyle. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and editor with excellent news judgment and a deep understanding of digital platforms. Strong communication skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines are crucial. Given that this is a nights-and-weekends role, the editor must be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and knows when to ask for support.
This position is perfect for an ambitious journalist who wants to be at the center of breaking news with one of the best digital newsrooms in the industry. They will play a role in covering the year’s biggest stories, from the Oscars to the Super Bowl, and have an opportunity to curate platforms that reach millions of people.
This is a full-time position based in Los Angeles, though candidates in New York will be considered. The hours are Wednesday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. PT and Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. PT. This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
