  • Responsibilities

    Join a highly successful and growing property & casualty insurance company and develop a strong understanding of underwriting, marketing, claims, loss control, audit, and other departments that make up an insurance company. This is a remote position. Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000 based on experience, plus a complete benefit package including an employee bonus plan and matching 401(k)! Responsibilities: • Become familiar with coverage forms and the underwriting process. Work closely with other team members to gain a solid understanding of the various workflows in the underwriting department. • Develop a strong understanding of underwriting, marketing, claims, loss control, audit, and other departments that make up an insurance company. • Begin to service and underwrite the renewal book of business. Analyze profitability, coverages, classifications, and changes in operations. Consult on pricing and changes in terms. Work with support staff and the Customer Service Unit (CSU) on required items such as unilateral letters and renewal changes. • Respond to questions and policy referrals from CSU and Claims. • Communicate with agents, policyholders, and other underwriters to obtain information and respond to questions related to underwriting. • Handle change requests for renewals, as well as certain midterm change requests as instructed by management. • Complete peer review audits as instructed by management. • Handle renewal follow-up items as directed by management. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business administration, agribusiness, or equivalent work experience. • Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently. • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Collaboration and organization skills. • Additional education in industry-related fields such as Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is preferred.
