Responsibilities:

Lead Yard Operations: Oversee all yard activities, including the unloading and proper storage of incoming merchandise. Ensure accuracy by verifying against purchase orders and promptly notifying the Director of Yard Operations of any discrepancies.

Supervise Material Handling: Provide guidance and direction to workers in material handling, loading, unloading, and movement of materials using equipment and machinery. Your leadership skills will be instrumental in promoting efficiency and productivity.

Ensure Safe Deliveries: Build and prepare accurate loads for delivery, ensuring compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and safety regulations. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our customers receive their orders on time and in excellent condition.

Deliver Outstanding Service: Provide friendly and professional assistance to customers, offering product knowledge and guidance. Your exceptional customer service skills will help foster strong relationships and drive customer satisfaction.

Maintain Yard Organization: Keep the lumber yard safe, clean, and well-organized, adhering to company standards and safety procedures. Your attention to detail will create an inviting and efficient work environment.

Training and Development: Provide on-the-job training to new yard employees, including product knowledge, housekeeping, and safety procedures. You'll have the opportunity to share your expertise and help develop our future team members.

Required Skills:

Proven Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership experience in a warehouse or outside yard environment is essential. Showcase your ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve common goals.

Industry Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or the construction industry. Your expertise will be invaluable in providing guidance and support to our customers.

Strong Administrative Skills: Exhibit strong administrative skills, including work assignment, discipline, evaluation, planning, supervision, and training. Your organizational abilities will contribute to the smooth operation of our yard.

Effective Communication: Excel in verbal and written communication when interacting with vendors, customers, management, and team members. Your excellent communication skills will foster positive relationships and effective collaboration.

Attention to Detail: Be proficient in basic math, counting, and estimating. Your keen eye for detail will ensure accurate inventory management and efficient yard operations.

Customer-Focused: Be dedicated to providing professional customer service and working effectively in a team-oriented environment. Your commitment to customer satisfaction will contribute to our reputation as a trusted provider of quality lumber products.

Physical Stamina: Possess the physical ability to bend, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and frequently lift and/or move between 50 - 100 pounds. Your physical stamina will enable you to thrive in our active work environment.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Yard Foreman with a lumber company or equivalent field, showcasing your leadership skills (required)

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Detail-Oriented: Highly organized with keen attention to detail.

Adaptability: Flexible and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with multiple team members.
