    Job Description

    SOAR SAFE OPPORTUNITIES for ADVOCACY and RELATIONSHIPS

    SOAR offers an exciting social-sexual and relationship program for people with developmental disabilities! We are seeking experienced professionals to join our clinical team of providers to teach adaptive living skills, sexual education and relationship navigation. Our ideal candidate will have a positive approach to support clients in learning new skills and to be self-advocates. The roll requires case management, active listening, supervisory skills, compassion and acceptance.

    FLEXIBLE HOURS - PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME

    OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE

    • Implement in-person and electronic sessions with clients
    • Work collaboratively with adaptive skills trainers, behavior analysts and mental health professionals to achieve person-centered outcomes
    • Provide weekly supervision of assistants
    • Assess clients, teach skills and supervise adaptive skills staff
    • Ongoing evaluation and vision for progressing client skills
    • Provide client-centered approach to teaching hygiene, dressing, personal-care chores, community safety, social skills and self-advocacy
    • Attend weekly clinical and staff meetings

    ADAPTIVE SKILL TRAINER – MUST HAVE MASTER’S DEGREE

    • Master’s degree in psychology, education, ABA, counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy or related field, mandatory
    • Minimum 2 years developing and implementing behavior management strategies, preferred
    • Minimum 2 years of experience working with people who have developmental disabilities, preferred
    • Minimum 1 year of instructional experience, preferred

    QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Collaboratively solve problems working within a therapeutic team
    • Willing to learn unique methods for teaching complex concepts
    • Accepting of all sexualities
    • Maintain a consistent schedule and records of client progress
    • Model skills and explain strategies to staff, clients and caregivers

    REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS

    • Successful clearance of state and federal background check
    • Copy of diploma, degree or transcript
    • Must pass TB test
    • Reliable transportation, auto insurance that complies with the state minimum policy
    • Valid driver’s license in good standing
    • Proficient in Google Drive, MS Word, Excel and other online platforms

    Company Description

    SOAR is a specialized program of The Association of Behavior Consultants. We offer adaptive skills training, social-sexual education, and counseling to people with developmental disabilities and their caregivers. This program is a great resource for people who needs skills-based adaptive skills training, express an interest in having a relationship, be vulnerable to exploitation, have experienced social/sexual trauma, and/or may demonstrate unsafe behavior. This program will also be a great resource for parents who need support navigating the onset of puberty and all that comes along with that. SOAR provides services for children, teens and adults.
