  • Responsibilities

    Athletes Global Chess Academy is looking for a Program Leader who can be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the chess program. This role involves teaching 9th - 12th grade students the fundamentals of chess, basic tactics, strategies, and techniques. The Chess Program Leader will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to enhance the chess program, fostering a love for the game, and ensuring the overall success of the program. The Chess Program Leader will work collaboratively with students, parents, school staff, and the FACE team to create an enriching and inclusive experience.

    ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    ● Leads, attends, and participates in all weekly club meetings and competitions, as determined by available resources, space, staff, and other logistics which may impact weekly club meetings and competition schedules. The FACE Team will work with The Chess Program Leader to determine the best weekly meetings, additional meetings, and competitions scheduled on an annual basis..

    ● Meet regularly with the Afterschool Programs Manager to discuss their preferred practices and competition schedule.

    ● Reports to the Afterschool Programs Manager who approves all fundraising efforts, purchases, expenses (i.e., competitions, travel, supplies, etc.), and all contracts or agreements with any third parties.

    PROJECT OUTCOME:

    ● Continued growth in scholars enrolled and competition Success looks like: ○ Increased enrollment and retention of participants in the chess program ○ Elevated skill levels and enthusiasm for chess among program participants. ○ Successful organization and execution of chess tournaments and events. ○ Scholars involved in chess club learn from the experience of being involved in a competition and have fun in the process ○ If the chess club enters in a competition, there is no expectation of winning or placing, only that the scholars are immersed in an enriching experience.
