Software Engineer At Atomwise, we invented the first deep learning neural networks for structure-based small molecule drug discovery and were currently deploying it in one of the largest applications of machine learning for life sciences. We work on Alzheimers, cancer, diabetes, drug-resistant antibiotics, safe pesticides, among treatments for other diseases. You should think about joining us if you care about enabling the application of machine learning to important problems. For example, we are not constrained by latency or uptime but by scaling and parallelization: today we analyze 100 million molecules per day, but there are about 10^24 (a trillion trillion) synthetically-accessible molecules. Come help us pick up a couple orders-of-magnitude. The team is >80% PhD scientists right now and youd be our second Software Engineer. As a result, theres plenty of opportunity to have a big impact on our success. You will Build backend software to train and run our AI models at scale (using 1000+ CPU and GPU instances). Write database-backed web applications to visualize and manage our unique datasets. Adapt scientific code to be modular, robust and production-ready. Design and implement clean software with appropriate unit and integration tests. Work closely with other team members (e.g. via code reviews) to foster robust and scalable code and systems. Required qualifications Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. 3+ years of software development experience. Fluency in Python. Deep familiarity with the Linux command-line environment. Willingness to adapt to the changes and challenges of a startup environment. Preferred qualifications Knowledge of Docker. Experience writing software on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
