    Job Description

    Kirton McConkie, a large Salt Lake City law firm, is seeking an experienced attorney with specialized expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) laws and regulations, data privacy compliance (including GDPR), and/or Intellectual Property (IP). The ideal candidate will help clients navigate compliance challenges, risk management, product counseling, and policy development related to AI technologies across many jurisdictions globally. Key responsibilities include the following:

    • Help advise clients on AI-related laws, regulations, standards, and ethical guidelines, including the EU AI Act, U.S. AI laws, automated decision-making laws, and more.
    • Help draft, review, and negotiate contracts involving AI technologies and services.
    • Support clients in building internal AI governance policies and ethical use frameworks.
    • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to AI.
    • Collaborate with data privacy and intellectual property attorneys.
    • Contribute to thought leadership, including articles, webinars, and client alerts.

    Candidates must have excellent academic credentials, demonstrate a commitment to ethics, be highly motivated and hardworking, have high attention to detail, be able to balance multiple projects, supervise a team of junior attorneys and staff, be a responsive team player, and have excellent writing skills. Law firm experience, familiarity with data privacy regulations as they relate to AI, and a background in computer science or engineering are preferred.

    Candidates either must be a member of the Utah Bar or be a member of the bar in another state and be willing to become a member of the Utah Bar as soon as possible.
