We are seeking a New Business Intake Conflicts Attorney to join our New York office. This position is critical in ensuring the firm’s adherence to ethical standards and compliance with conflict of interest rules. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal ethics, a proactive problem-solving approach, and experience with conflict management in a large law firm environment. The role involves conducting new client research, evaluating potential conflicts of interest, and facilitating the firm’s business intake processes.
Essential Functions:
- Facilitate the firm’s new business intake process, ensuring thorough evaluation of potential clients and matters.
- Conduct detailed conflicts of interest analyses utilizing internal and external databases.
- Draft and implement conflict waivers and ethical walls to resolve potential conflicts.
- Advises attorneys and staff on ethical obligations and compliance with Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Provide training to attorneys and staff on the firm’s conflicts and business intake policies.
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation for emergency conflict checks.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with others.
- Ensure responsible management of firm resources.
- Adhere to firm policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong understanding of professional responsibility rules and ethical judgment.
- Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage complex information and make informed, timely decisions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new software and technologies.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to the Bar.
- Experience in conflict management, ethical compliance, or a related field within a large law firm.
- Knowledge of relevant software programs and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
Salary & Benefits:
- The expected salary range for this position is between $135,000-$180,000 annually, based on experience and other relevant factors.
- Hybrid work model: Monday through Thursday in the office, with the opportunity to work remotely for specified periods throughout the year.
