A well-established law firm is seeking a Counsel to join its Labor & Employment Department, specifically working with the hospitality team. This is an opportunity to work with some of New York’s most popular restaurants, boutique hotels, and entertainment venues. The role involves a significant amount of day-to-day employment counseling regarding wage and hour, discrimination, and general employment matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the State of New York.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong research, writing skills, and academic record.
- Experience as a first-chair handling litigation concerning discrimination and/or wage and hour claims.
- Experience counseling on New York State and New York City employment matters.
- Preferred experience in labor relations within the hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with the New York State Hospitality Wage Order is strongly preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Office setting with standard office equipment use.
- Sedentary work with occasional walking and standing.
- Close visual acuity required for computer use and reading.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $285,000 - $310,000 (subject to experience, education, and market factors).
