    As an Audio Systems Engineer , you will work closely with NBC Senior Director of Audio Engineering and other senior audio personnel to design and implement state-of-the-art audio systems for live sports broadcasts. This includes planning, designing, and testing all forms of broadcast audio systems—from analog to IP-based systems (ST2110)—in complex environments. Your expertise in current and emerging technologies from leading manufacturers will be critical in driving innovation and ensuring seamless operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Audio Systems Design: Support the development of comprehensive broadcast audio systems compatible with IP-based workflows (Dante, ST2110, AES67).
    • Documentation & Planning: Create conceptual designs and detailed audio-specific drawings using tools like Lucidchart for Olympic and sports production teams.
    • Venue Audio Planning: Coordinate a large number of technologies using NBC proprietary software to ensure field engineering teams have the necessary equipment and infrastructure for successful implementation of broadcasts.
    • System Integration: Collaborate with venue engineering systems, IT networks, transmission services, and distribution teams to integrate NBC Audio systems into a unified workflow.
    • Innovation in Sound Design: Test advanced ground-based or cloud-based DSP technologies; present findings to leadership for potential implementation.
    • Live Event Support: Provide technical expertise during live events to ensure or enhance sound quality using advanced mixing techniques aligned with NBC's signature sound.

    Additionally, you will assist with integration projects involving signal flow planning, testing, commissioning, and training staff on new systems. Staying updated on emerging virtualization tools for remote workflows, immersive sound technologies, and wearable audio tech innovations is essential to enhancing broadcast quality.

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements:

    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in television broadcast environments
    • BS degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting broadcast production systems (Calrec audio consoles, Dante Commentary systems infrastructure , ENG audio setups).
    • Solid understanding of the basics of audio and sound capture, reproduction, acoustics, microphone pickup, coherence, phase.
    • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networks and SMPTE 2110 standards.
    • Expertise in Dante AoIP workflows; familiarity with AES67-compatible solutions.
    • Ability to interpret system signal flow diagrams for control rooms/studio facilities.
    • Strong problem-solving skills under pressure in live broadcast environments.
    • Experience with remote production workflows for national/international events.
    • Strong understanding of wireless audio and immersive sound systems.
    • A love of broadcast production and a passion for Sound
    • Knowledge of modern TV formats1080P/4K HDR and resulting audio workflows.
    • Experience with system design tools like Lucidchart or similar software for technical documentation.
    • Familiarity with Calrec, Tieline, Studio Technologies, Ferrofish, RTS ADAM/Omneo intercom systems.

    Additional Requirements

    • Willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends when necessary.
    • Must be willing to work primarily in Monroe, CT, with secondary office duties in Stamford, CT.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
    • National and international travel required, particularly during Olympic Games.
    • Required On-Site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
