Position Overview: The Audio-Visual Project Manager will lead a team of AV/IT technicians and material handlers to provide comprehensive audio-visual and information technology support for corporate meetings, presentations, and events at the National Science Foundation (NSF). This role requires excellent management and communication skills, the ability to multitask, and a strong technical background in AV/IT systems.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of 8 AV/IT technicians and material handlers.
Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Schedule and coordinate technicians, staff, and guest speakers to meet the needs of each conference.
Set up and install AV equipment, including sound systems, video equipment, microphones, projectors, and video monitors.
Provide technical support for broadcasting, conferencing, and audiovisual presentations.
Initiate and manage online platforms such as Zoom, Cisco, and Crestron for meetings.
Test and resolve equipment issues, diagnose and correct media system problems, and ensure equipment is installed according to designated layouts.
Manage an accurate calendar schedule for all performances, rehearsals, and meetings.
Monitor sound feeds to ensure quality and coordinate audio feeds with television images.
Research potential equipment purchases and manage equipment repairs.
Maintain inventory of AV equipment and ensure proper storage and transfer.
Provide in-person technical support when requested by customers.
Process customer requests for service, provide initial troubleshooting support, and escalate issues to appropriate IT staff if necessary.
Train customers on the use of AV and IT equipment and services.
Work with staff and presenters to establish cues and directions for professional productions.
Attend weekly meetings to review room schedules and advise on overlapping or technician coverage.
Implement and document process improvements to enhance service delivery.
Ensure deliverables are timely and accurate.
Maintain effective communication and customer service skills among team members.
Develop and maintain a Quality Control Plan to ensure services are performed in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven experience leading a team in a technical support environment.
Strong technical background in AV/IT systems, including Crestron, VBrick, Zoom, MS Teams, and Cisco.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Certification as a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS or CTS-I) is preferred.
Familiarity with industry standards-based video-conferencing and collaboration technologies.
