    Job Title: Bourbon Specialist & Tasting Leader.

    Job Type: Full Time. Part Time, Weekends. This role reports to the Distillery Assistant Guest Experience Manager.

    Job Summary/Primary Functions:

    Summary: The Augusta Distillery, home of the World’s Best Bourbon, is offering ground floor job opportunities to people who are great with public speaking, unafraid to engage with groups of people (+10), and enjoy being a subject matter expert in the area of bourbon and related spirits. **** The bourbon specialist role will be located in our retail guest center in charming Augusta, Kentucky.

    Primary Functions: The Bourbon Specialist role leads the guest tasting experience of our award-winning brands, providing bourbon-centric information to individuals and groups. The Bourbon Specialist prepares, educates, and delights our guests with tastings, pours, and flights of whiskey. An exciting aspect of the role is to conduct an interactive hands-on whiskey thieving” experience. The bourbon specialist leads our guests on journey from popping a bung, to using a whiskey thief to “steal” juice straight from the barrel. At the end of the journey the guests will be given the opportunity to “use their new thieving skills” to personally hand-fill and purchase their own bottle of their favorite bourbon.

    Major Job Responsibilities / Key Duties:

    Engaging our guests:

    • Gauge the groups collective bourbon knowledge, and ask a few warm up questions.
    • Provide brief background on the interactive tasting journey our guests are about to take.
    • Conduct an “hands-on” tasting experience by having our guests “do all the work”.
    • Teach our guests on how to use a bung puller and whiskey thief to extract the juice from the barrel.
    • Educates guests on how to use their senses (nose, taste, finish) to enjoy and evaluate their bourbon.
    • Offer a second interactive opportunity to purchase and hand-fill “your own bottle” straight from the barrel.
    • All while delivering wit and charm to enhance the guest experience.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Collects money from customers for bottles sold, and drinks served.
    • Maintains the tasting area, keeping it clean and organized.

    Skills /Experience/Training Required:

    • Bring your best smile, a good attitude, and being a great teammate is job #1!
    • Knowledge of, and passion for, bourbon and distilled spirits is preferred.
    • Mixologist, Tour Guide, Teacher, Actor, Sales and Public Speakers will tend to have the right skills for this role.

    · Must be 21 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED.

    Benefits:
