  • Responsibilities

    Our client is seeking experienced Automation Engineers to support the upgrade of the Manufacturing Control System (MCS) onsite in Andover, MA. The scope includes the replacement or update of 30 PLCs, specifically a combination of PLC 5 and ControlLogix systems. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for supporting system upgrades, implementing PLC logic, integrating with a new iFIX SCADA system, and providing commissioning and qualification support.

    Responsibilities

    • Complete required site training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Assist in updating functional and configuration specifications.
    • Support change control processes, ensuring proper documentation and validation.
    • Develop and assist in protocol/test plan generation.
    • Conduct and support execution of electrical/wiring checks.
    • Configure all I/O for process equipment related to replaced PLCs.
    • Develop and implement PLC programs on both the development and live system.
    • Implement or update units, phase logic, control modules, messaging, and other required functionality in new and existing PLCs following project standards.
    • Support the integration of the new iFIX SCADA system, ensuring seamless PLC communication.
    • Provide commissioning and qualification support, including loop tuning, testing, troubleshooting, deviation resolution, and project documentation closeout.
    • Assist with suite startup and troubleshooting activities for an agreed-upon duration post-startup.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field preferred.
    • Proven experience with PLC programming, specifically Allen-Bradley PLC 5 and ControlLogix.
    • Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, preferably iFIX SCADA.
    • Strong background in industrial automation and manufacturing control systems.
    • Experience with change control, validation, and compliance in a regulated environment (pharmaceuticals, biotech, or similar industries).
    • Proficiency in electrical wiring, control system integration, and troubleshooting.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
    • Experience with loop tuning and control system optimization.
    • Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.
    • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and industry regulations.
