    Position Overview

    We are seeking a full-time Senior Project Manager (PM) for our $325M project at the George Bush Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) as United Airlines undertakes the construction of new Baggage Handling Systems and Early Bag Storage systems. The Senior PM manages and coordinates all of the support infrastructure necessary for the proper function of the new Baggage Handling Systems. Critical to our success is the ability to manage complex project requirements within the operating environment of United’s IAH hub.

    The Senior PM will focus developing the new support infrastructure in a phased manner in close coordination with the Houston Airport System, United Airlines, Siemens PP&AL, Hensel Phelps, PGAL and other project participants. Existing project elements will be demolished and new support infrastructure will be constructed in a phased manner over a four year period on both the airside and landside of the airport. The position requires knowledge implementing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other systems within an existing airport operating environment while maintaining United’s daily baggage operations. Additionally, the Senior PM will be responsible for the development of the Early Bag Storage facility above the South Terminal Roadway including an elevated reinforced concrete frame. The Senior PM is expected to coordinate with the Construction Manager at Risk who will be responsible construction of all of the support infrastructure. Coordination efforts will include development of integrated CPM schedule, interface coordination with the International Terminal Redevelopment Program, day to day coordination with Siemens PP&AL, development of phasing sequences, coordination with United Decision Technologies group, communication with project participants, and interaction with other members of the Project Management team.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Work closely with the United’s CRE and station representative with a focus on airside and landside elements of the New BHS Program.

    Provide direct and regular coordination with the CMR, Siemens and other members of the PM team.

    Manage infrastructure construction in an active airport environment with a focus on safety, cost control and schedule adherence.

    Coordinate with the project team related to cost management, submittals, schedule, testing and overall project management.

    Constant coordination of multiple projects, interfaces with the HAS ITRP program as required to serve the overall progress of the New Baggage Handling System Program.

    Identify and evaluate alternative solutions to best meet program goals.

    In certain circumstances, manage special studies, initiatives, or due diligence assignments.

    Prepare memos, reports, briefings, proposals and other client deliverables.

    Provide support to the project teams as required.

    Skills and Experience

    A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the direct management of large, complex aviation projects with a strong understanding of airside and landside programs

    Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

    Excellent oral and written skills

    Strong attention to detail

    Ability to build relationships and motivate teams

    Strength in public speaking, delivering information in small/large groups

    Ability to work closely with others in a team effort

    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

    Professional registration and other advanced training preferred

    Qualifications

    B.S. in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or Architecture
