    ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

    Avenues for Youth provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid re-housing, collective housing, and host homes housing for youth and young families experiencing housing instability and homelessness. We strive to do that in a safe and nurturing environment through a social justice lens. Avenues seeks to partner with youth and young families while they define their experiences, life dreams and future. Our work takes into account historical trauma, systems of oppression, and intersectionality while being grounded in the power of resiliency, healing, and community.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following duties are normal for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

    Fundraising and Database Support – 20 hours per week

    • Perform all In-kind donation organizing, inventory, and logistics, to ensure the shelters are well-stocked and development staff can make solicitations when required.
    • Conduct all Fair Market Value research on donated in-kind items and enter the value of these gifts into our donor management system (Donor Perfect).
    • Coordinate and prepare for volunteer activities with Development team.
    • Track and coordinate partner activities internally.
    • Record all notes of donor/supporter interactions in donor management system.
    • Coordinate gift pick-ups and donor interactions.
    • Co-lead on the annual Holiday Program. With the Development team, organize and coordinate with program staff on youth wish lists, align them with participating donors, track gift pick-ups/deliveries, fair market value, and appreciation gestures and letters.
    • Coordinate and prepare tabling kits and supplies for marketing and program staff.
    • Participate in basic administrative support annually and during appeals (printing, stamping, addressing letters, etc.).
    • Pull, prepare, and print all Thank You letters.

    Communications Support – 5 hours per week

    • Creating Social Media posts (and coordinating with the Communications Manager in the shared marketing calendar).
    • Responsible for engaging / answering comments and questions on social media.
    • Support monthly external email communications.

    Finance Support – 5 hours per week

    • Support the finance team with check scans and deposit.
    • Enter invoices into bill pay system and allocate expenses accordingly.
    • Prepare and make bank deposits at least weekly.
    • Assist with record-keeping and invoicing for government funding.
    • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
    • Ensure monthly credit card transactions are coded correctly.
    • Follow internal control procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience in fundraising, community engagement, customer service, or project management.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills including maintaining databases.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication such as drafting emails, reports, and other documents, as well as communicating with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
    • Experience with database management systems and project management. Experience with Donor Perfect a plus.
    • Detail-orientation to ensure accuracy and quality in documents, reports, and data entry.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and external partners.
    • Time management skills such as prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Knowledge and interest in supporting efforts to end homelessness.
    • Must have and maintain a valid Minnesota Driver’s License, maintain automobile coverage and have access to an automobile.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, twist, kneel, climb stairs and communicate with or without accommodations. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    Salary Range: $20.77 to $22.00 per hour
