  • Responsibilities

    The purpose of this position is to support the overall operations of the airport’s airfield by assisting with safety and security, while maintaining compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Serves as Airport Safety Coordinator by implementing ISBAH safety program, maintaining records and logs, completing safety, maintenance, and quality control inspections, coordinating safety meetings, and investigating and resolving complaints.
    • Coordinates the implementation and management of department safety programs by developing plans, programs, and manuals, monitoring regulations for changes, and creating forms and checklists to ensure compliance.
    • Monitors compliance with Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPP) and airport and federal safety regulations.
    • Serves as Trusted Agent for managing credentialing, Airport ID, and SIDA issuance.
    • Monitors the security system, addresses operational and security issues, and conducts airport and security inspections.

    Supplemental Functions:

    • Performs other similar duties as required.

    Job Specifications and Qualifications:

    Knowledge:

    • Airport and aviation operations terminology and principles
    • Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations
    • Security and safety principles and practices

    Licensing and Certifications:

    • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
    • American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Operations credential preferred but not required

    Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

    • **** Positions in this class require: handling, vision, fine dexterity, sitting, hearing, talking.
    • Medium Work: Exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.
    • May be subjected to extreme temperature, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.

    • Ability to interpret complex documents (i.e. FAA manuals)
    • Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs

    • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

    Required Experience

    Associates degree in Airport or Business Administration from an accredited College or University, with at least three (3) years of experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
