Our client is a long-standing and rapidly growing mechanical services company with over 50 years of industry experience. They are currently seeking a BAS Controls Technician to join their team. The BAS Controls Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting building unit controllers and Facility Management Systems. The company is highly respected in the mechanical services industry and offers a stable, supportive work environment. All of their work is the Commercial/ Industrial Space.
The BAS Controls Technician will be responsible for commissioning, installing, and troubleshooting building unit controllers and Facility Management Systems. The BAS Controls Technician, will also help with service-related calls. This role also involves producing technical documentation to support project execution for customers, field teams, and subcontractors. Additional responsibilities include responding to service and warranty requests related to BAS projects, as well as participating in the team’s on-call rotation to provide automation support.
Responsibilities:
Integrates and supports various control systems and third-party devices, such as Niagara, ensuring smooth functionality across platforms
Complete all required commissioning documentation
Leads full system operations, including point-to-point testing, programming, and coordination with subcontractors to resolve technical issues
Sets up customer workstations, configures software and graphics, and performs equipment calibration and basic network diagnostic
Deliver training to end-users, assist with system handoff, and mentor junior technicians on installation best practices and system validation
Communicate with both the Project Teams and clients throughout the project life cycle
Qualifications:
This candidate must have a Niagara certification/N4 with at least 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience (additional certifications are a plus).
5+ years of experience in HVAC controls, including database integrations and working with various subsystems. Experience with multiple control platforms such as Trane, Johnson Controls (JCI), Siemens, Carrier, Niagara, and others.
Solid understanding of the general construction industry, with a strong focus on HVAC systems—including Boilers, Chillers, RTUs, AHUs, and VAVs—as well as building automation controls.
Proficient in controls strategies, with the ability to configure and commission building automation systems in accordance with design specifications and company standards.
Knowledge of communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks, with the capability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve related issues.
