    Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Recovery Specialist/Treatment Mentor provides compassionate care and recovery services to individuals in the early stages of recovery. This position supports clients as part of an interdisciplinary team within a primary care sub-acute residential treatment setting.

    The Recovery Specialist/Treatment Mentor plays a crucial role in delivering treatment services and taking a leadership role in the milieu. This includes participating in various relationship-based educational sessions, interventions, and providing medical and nursing support, as well as additional clinical and milieu services such as group counseling, crisis intervention, relationship building, emotional support, and other essential services for all clients. The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in addiction and recovery, along with a sincere desire to assist those in need of compassionate care.

    The Encino Detox Center seeks team members who have very good instincts, are safety-focused, and are able to effectively engage with individuals facing substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders. We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about helping others and can make a significant impact on our community.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience

    Two (2) years direct service experience with adults who struggle with addiction and/or mental health in a residential treatment setting (Required)

    One (1) year supervisory experience in a health care setting able to supervise, direct and monitor staff (Preferred)

    License or Certification/Registration

    License Not Required. Certified/Registered with Approved California Professional Board (Required)

    Specialized Skills

    • Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with those struggling with addiction, other staff, physicians, agencies, other health care providers, and the public.

    • Demonstrated understanding of addiction and/or psychiatric illness along with treatment methods and modalities.

    • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the full continuum of care.

    • Knowledge of insurance regulations, DHCS regulations, TJC Standards, and licensing requirements (preferred).

    SAFETY PRECAUTIONS REQUIRED

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure current registration with CAADE, CADTP, and CCAPP.

    • Establish and uphold professional boundaries with clients.

    • Complete necessary program documentation utilizing an electronic medical records system (KIPU).

    • Exhibit humility, compassion, and a commitment to safety.

    • Effectively manage multiple deadlines and competing demands.

    • Follow through on tasks, often with minimal supervision.

    • Function independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

    • Possess knowledge of HIPAA regulations, confidentiality, protected health information, and compliance concerning all client and agency records.

    • Demonstrate ability to lead and cooperate within a team setting, ensuring safety and oversight in a licensed and accredited sub-acute healthcare treatment environment.

    CORE DUTIES

    • Directly interact with clients receiving detox/residential services, professionally documenting in the company EHR (KIPU).

    • Record observations and interventions in EHR

    • Complete daily shift notes for clients and for the milieu making sure to document medical necessity and write professionally to support best practices

    • Conduct AMA prevention and crisis intervention through relationship development

    • Administer UA drug screens and prepare lab requisition forms per policy

    • Facilitate groups as needed

    • Assist therapists in group sessions

    • Support community outings, recovery meetings, and other off-site activities

    • Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and in-service training

    • Maintain communication via company email and WhatsApp every shift

    • Uphold ethical boundaries with clients at all times

    • Assist client discharges following company protocols and document in EHR

    • Supervise the self-administration of medication and attend all up-to-date trainings

    • Adhere to HIPAA and other regulations regarding client care and confidentiality

    • Provide professional individual and case management services unique to each client’s needs.

    • Conduct COWS/CIWA assessments and monitor and record vital signs as directed or indicated.

    • Maintain patient charts and document counseling services as per regulations

    • Follow established policies and procedures, holding self and others accountable

    • Encourage client engagement in programming and provide mentoring and coaching

    • Conduct intakes, discharges, and initial assessments professionally

    • Hold outgoing Shift Change Meetings with incoming staff

    • Manage the collection of UA tests and prepare for lab

    • Provide transportation to and from groups/AA meetings/Dr/Court as needed

    • Perform vital checks and rounds

    • Assess client functioning levels using COWS/CIWA

    • Offer support and comfort in a safe, welcoming environment

    • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

    Pre-Employment Requirements

    Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check, TB test (if indicated), drug screening, and pre-employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification is required, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
