    Background

    This position supports PEMDAS Technologies and Innovations in its research and development

    of technologies for the Department of Defense, US Government Federal Agencies and

    commercial enterprises. PEMDAS is a recognized small business with the reputation for fast

    innovation cycles and exceeding the customers’ needs. This position will require a team player,

    self-starter, creative problem solver, and the ability to adapt in the performance of assigned

    tasks. Primary focus areas will be development of environmental decision aids tailored to specific customer needs.

    Job Description

    Provide atmospheric science support to senior scientists, engineers, and software developers for

    executing funded government or commercial programs. This includes developing, deploying, and using software packages for statistical evaluation and verification and validation of meteorological datasets and applying post-processing techniques to provide analytics and customer insights. There will be a need to author studies and reports to support projects. Travel as directed under company travel guidelines. Perform business development research and pipeline development to include presentations and white papers. Continue professional development as needed through appropriate PEMDAS-funded seminars, webinars and self-study to expand the skill set as required. Perform other related activities as directed by senior personnel in support of PEMDAS activities. Adhere to company Employee Handbook and corporate procedures. Attend and complete required company and government security and other training modules as directed.

    Specifics

    Must Haves:

    At least a bachelor’s degree in meteorology or Atmospheric Science, or at least 5 years of equivalent experience.

    Eligible to obtain and maintain a government security clearance/ must be US citizen

    Demonstrated proficiency in software programming languages such as Python and/or MATLAB.

    Knowledge and experience in statistical evaluation of meteorological data sets.

    Will work remotely from own residence as part of a geographically separated team.

    Additional Preferred Skills:

    Master of Science or Engineering in a field applicable to environmental sciences.

    Familiarity with aviation weather, including manned and unmanned platforms.

    Familiarity with the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model.

    Experience working with cloud computing.

    Experience with meteorological applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

    Expertise in big data analytics.

    Database experience, including development and applications.

    This is a remote position.
