    JOB SUMMARY

    The Program Director will be responsible for establishing the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program and serving as a liaison with the Texas Board of Nursing (BON). This role encompasses all aspects of the program, including administration, planning, continuous review, development, and overall program effectiveness, in addition to fulfilling the duties assigned to full-time faculty.

    Initially, this position will be offered on a contract basis to allow for the development and approval stages of the ADN program. This approach ensures that the candidate can focus on meeting the critical milestones required for program approval by the Texas BON. During this contract period, the Program Director will have the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to build and lead the program effectively.

    Upon successful approval of the ADN program by the Texas BON and based on the evolving needs of the program, this position has the potential to transition to a full-time role. This transition will be reviewed and determined by the College based on the progress and success of the program establishment, student enrollment, and overall program effectiveness. This contract-to-full-time arrangement provides a clear pathway for the Program Director to establish a solid foundation for the ADN program while ensuring alignment with institutional goals and regulatory requirements.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Program Establishment and Liaison Duties

    Establishes the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program and serves as the liaison with the Texas Board of Nursing (BON).

    Program Management and Evaluation

    Plans, administers, manages, and evaluates the ADN Program and course offerings, utilizing digital solutions for courses, textbooks, learning labs, online tutoring, and other learning support services.

    Leads the process for systematic ADN Program review and evaluation as per the model adopted by the College.

    Reviews, maintains, and evaluates the ADN Program budget and directs appropriation of funds and expenditures relating to the program and courses.

    Leadership and Strategic Planning

    Provides leadership and vision for the creation and implementation of a strategic plan for the ADN Program.

    Develops and implements program changes and courses in response to community needs.

    Develops marketing and promotional strategies for the ADN Program and courses.

    Faculty and Staff Coordination

    Directs all phases of the professional nursing education program, including approval of teaching staff, selection of clinical sites, admission, progression, probation, dismissal of students, and enforcement of student policies.

    Provides recommendations to the Campus Director for the employment, assignment, evaluation, and professional development of all full-time and adjunct ADN Program faculty.

    Verifies and approves ADN Program faculty credentials in collaboration with the Dean of Health Professions.

    Participates in faculty and committee activities.

    Assists in the development and writing of proposals.

    Curriculum Development and Assessment

    Functions as the instructional leader for the ADN Program in the development, assessment, and revision of curricula, program outcomes, and student learning outcomes in collaboration with faculty.

    Provides evidence of faculty expertise and knowledge to teach curriculum content.

    Verifies students’ completion of program requirements.

    Accreditation and Compliance

    Ensures the program meets and maintains accreditation requirements.

    Completes and submits Texas BON Affidavit of Graduation, Nursing Education Program Information Survey (NEPIS), and Compliance Audit for Nursing Education Programs (CANEP) by the required dates.

    Community and Industry Engagement

    Interacts with community groups, local school districts, and business and industry regarding their specific training needs.

    Develops and maintains positive partnerships with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), the Texas Workforce Commission, local workforce boards, local economic development agencies, program advisory committees, business and industry, school districts, and other governmental, community, business, and educational institutions in the College’s service area to ensure the needs of area businesses, credit, and non-credit students are met.

    Student Support and Issue Resolution

    Works with the campus director, faculty, and staff to resolve student issues and complaints in compliance with College policies and procedures.

    Administrative Responsibilities

    Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to meet the demands of the worksite (which may be on campus or at an off-site location).

    Working hours may include evenings, holidays, or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events.

    Serves as a liaison or representative on instruction-related committees on behalf of the President, as needed.

    Professional Development

    Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Texas Healthtech Institute.

    Supports the values and institutional goals as defined in the College’s Strategic Plan.

    Compliance and Other Duties

    Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards, policies, and guidelines.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge of the rules, regulations, and principles of the Texas Board of Nursing (BON), Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Workforce Education Course Manual, and the Council on Occupational Education.

    Program Administration and Development:

    Knowledge in the administration and development of the Associate Degree Nursing Program designed to meet the needs of healthcare organizations.

    Experience in entrepreneurial activities and programs designed to meet the needs of adults and the business community.

    Demonstrated excellent supervisory, administrative, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications represent the necessary education and experience:

    Educational Requirements:

    A Master’s degree with a major in nursing from an accredited college or university is required.

    Professional Experience:

    At least five (5) years of varied nursing experience since graduating from a professional nursing education program.

    A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in a professional nursing education program.

    Approval by Texas Board of Nursing:

    The program director must be approved by the Texas Board of Nursing within three (3) months of hire.

    Technological Proficiency:

    Experience in the use of technology in the teaching and learning process and a willingness to continuously enhance this through technological advancements.

    Collaborative Experience:

    Experience in collaborating with various educational, business, and/or government groups.

    Grant Management:

    Experience with and understanding of federal, state, local, and private grant-funded Associate Degree Nursing Programs.

    Operational and Administrative Skills:

    Experience in organizing, developing, and implementing operational systems.

    Experience in writing guidelines in an educational setting and managing a high-volume workflow office.

    Experience in planning, program development, evaluation, and budgeting.

    CERTIFICATES AND LICENSURES

    A license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas is required.
