Summary of Position
Under minimal supervision, provides theory-based career, educational and personal counseling, and classroom instruction to clients to assist them to become personally and economically self-sufficient. May also include some project/program coordination responsibility. These positions are part-time and temporary.
Duties & Responsibilities
Working in a team-oriented environment, must utilize sound judgment, along with excellent organizational skills. Duties include:
- Counsel students: Conduct intake to assess individual needs of clients through personal interviews, testing, and other methods.
- Counsel and support students in the resolution of personal and social issues that may be barriers to academic success.
- Refer clients to appropriate activities, campus services, outside agencies or local education agencies.
- Case management and case staffing with appropriate staff and/or agencies.
- Monitoring client progress toward career/educational goals and conducting follow-up on clients regarding to determine if needs/goals were met.
- Support student retention and success through academic counseling related to academic progress, scheduling, college regulations and procedures.
- Teach workshops and conduct presentations.
- Provide like services to clients at CSI off-campus sites as assigned.
- Consult and work in a supportive manner with peers, faculty and administration regarding programs, institutional policy and other pertinent issues. Consult with college faculty and staff on issues related to student success and retention.
- Provide courteous and friendly support to current, past and potential CSI students.
- Develop and coordinate projects as assigned.
- Attend and participate in groups as assigned and serve on various committees across campus including the Threat Assessment and Consultation Team (TACT).
- Maintain and improve current knowledge and skills in counseling and other relevant fields through regular participation in professional development activities.

Education and/or experience that demonstrates the following:
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

- Understand and apply theory-based personal and career counseling techniques
- Counseling and personal skills sufficient to work with a wide variety of people.

- Ability to understand and practice Counselor Code of Ethics as adopted by the American Counseling Association
- Genuine concern for the advancement of educationally and economically disadvantaged individuals.

General Requirements:
- Must possess a Master’s degree
- Licensed Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Psychologist.
Required Experience
CAREs-specific Priority duties:
- Works with Dean of Students and Director of HR to identify students in quarantine, contact them weekly, and offer college resources to them
- Creates, markets, and conducts Zoom Therapy Group(s)
- Systematically contacts Deans, Department Chairs and faculty to identify COVID-related wellness needs and creates programming to meet those needs.
- Connects faculty and students to college and community resources, such as Gilbert’s Pantry, Report a Concern, etc.
- Contact CSI outreach centers and provide wellness programming to students there
- Enhance SH101 marketing to all campus
