Heavy construction utility contractor located in western Suffolk County is seeking an experienced full-time Accounts Payable Specialist. We are looking for a detail oriented, outgoing individual who thrives working in a team setting. Working within our Accounting Department the selected candidate will work primarily within our Accounts Payable division and will perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to:

• Match purchase orders and delivery tickets to invoices and resolve any invoice discrepancies
• Code and enter invoices into the ERP system
• Route invoices for approval
• Process payments to vendors
• Reconcile vendor statements
• Maintain vendor relationships
• Assist other Accounting Department team members, as needed.

Candidates must have 3+ years of relevant experience, be detailed oriented, and possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, multiple company environment. Knowledge of Sage (Timberline) and/or experience working in a construction setting is a plus but is not required.

Essential Functions:

• Communicates effectively with Supervisors and Project staff to resolve issues
• Able to work well in a team environment to accomplish common tasks
• Willing to cross train within the accounting department and perform other office tasks as needed
• Must handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism at all times
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills in order to work with executive and support staff
• Must possess a strong sense of urgency and know how to prioritize work
