TQI Solutions is actively seeking a collaborative and skilled Barge Sustainment Assistant to join our dedicated team. As a key contributor, you will provide crucial support to our esteemed client located in Norfolk, VA.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct monthly barge walkthroughs at various maintenance availability locations.
• Perform turnover inspections and Material Condition Assessment Processes (MCAP) for large and small barges.
• Support triennial Board of Inspection & Survey (INSURV) assessments for all barges.
• Manage Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and Digital Trouble Log (DTL) for messing and berthing barges.
• Conduct biweekly material inspections of US Fleet Forces Flag barge, log and monitor discrepancies, and coordinate their resolution.
• Assist in producing and updating the quarterly berthing barge schedule as assigned.
• Develop, manage, monitor, and report on barge maintenance and modernization efforts.
• Contribute to program process improvement initiatives as assigned.
• Maintain the Current Ship's Maintenance Project (CSMP).
• Audit weekly, monthly, annual, and semi-annual checklists.
• Assist the barge crew with locating parts and coordinating services.
• Ensure that mandatory certifications are maintained.
This is a full time, salaried, exempt position.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related scientific or technical discipline, but no required
• At least ten (10) years of recent experience in the Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot maintenance of US Navy ships/submarines. Prior INSURV, Shipyard, Maintenance Program Management, and/or Flag Staff experience highly desired.
• Moderate physical activity is a requirement in this role - candidate must be physically capable of walking up and down ship ladders/stairs, navigate hatch covers and or narrow passageways, stoop down or reach overhead objects for inspection, and generally access any space or location on a barge without physical restrictions. Must be able to sustain several hours of standing, walking, and moving about a barge.
• Must have understanding of US Navy ship maintenance phases, infrastructure and processes to include Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP)
• Must have knowledge of US Navy material condition assessment processes (safety, maintenance standards, inspections and surveys - INSURV)
• Must be able to clearly identify discrepancies and have the ability to draft, edit, proofread, and provide corrective action recommendations in accordance with US Navy policy and procedures.
Alternate Acceptable Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree with eight (8) years of General Experience, six (6) years must be of recent Specific Experience.
• Master's Degree with seven (7) years of General Experience, five (5) years must be of recent Specific Experience.
The incumbent of this position will be subject to a background investigation and will be required to maintain a Government granted security clearance.
