    SUMMARY The Bartender prepares, mixes, pours and garnishes alcoholic and specialty drinks for guests at the bar and for servers who will deliver the drinks to guests seated at a table. The Bartender processes orders for food in the bar, delivers food to the guest, checks back to ensure satisfaction and processes payment for food and beverages.

    The Bartender is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary environment in the bar and setting up the bar to meet the needs of the guests. The Bartender consistently practices all guest acknowledgment requirements.

    Reports To: Restaurant Manager

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    Cuts garnishes, prepares mixes, stocks supplies, cleans and organizes the bar for guest service.

    Greets guests arriving in the bar area.

    Prepares beverages according to recipe and delivers to bar guests.

    Delivers a guest check to all bar guests as items are served.

    Serves meals at the bar.

    Processes beverage orders through the POS terminal.

    Reads tickets printed by POS system and prepares drinks listed on the ticket.

    Accurately processes beverage check payments and balances receipts at the end of the shift.

    Responds to guest requests and anticipates guest needs while in the bar area.

    Responds professionally to guest comments, complaints and questions.

    Keeps bar counter clear of soiled tableware, trash and empty glasses.

    Cleans and re-stocks all bar glassware.

    Offers a parting comment to guests being seated or leaving the restaurant.

    Verbally acknowledges all guests encountered in restaurant.

    Abides by all applicable laws regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages.

    Follows all health, safety, sanitation and security standards.

    Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    PERSONAL APPEARANCE The Bartender must be well groomed and neatly dressed in a clean uniform. See employee handbook for a complete description of the dress code for the front of the house employee.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Physical Actions: The Bartender will be required to engage in the following physical action for up to an eight-hour shift:

    65% Standing

    5% Walking

    5% Carrying

    5% Reaching

    20% Cleaning

    The Bartender spends the entire shift standing behind the bar and preparing drinks. The Bartender regularly reaches for liquor bottles stored at various heights from below the waist to above the head. The Bartender lifts dish racks of glassware to load and unload the dishwasher. The Bartender regularly lifts or moves boxes, cases or kegs weighing up to 50 pounds.

    Environmental Exposure: The Bartender works in the climate controlled environment of the dining rooms, but will be required to walk in and out of the kitchen resulting in exposure to heat and humidity. The Bartender will wash bar glassware in a dishwasher. The Bartender may have to use a three-compartment sink requiring frequent submersion of hands (gloves may be worn) in hot soapy water and in a sanitizing solution on rare occasion. The Bartender works with cleaning chemicals.

    The Bartender engages in extensive verbal interaction with guests and employees and is exposed to potentially frustrating situations. The Bartender must work well with limited supervision.
