Position Overview
The Bartender provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional experience for all guests. As both an entertainer and service provider, the Bartender aims to establish positive connections with guests, encouraging them to return. This role involves preparing and serving beverages, managing bar operations, and ensuring compliance with all alcohol service regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Take food and beverage orders from bar guests and enter orders into the point-of-sale system.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to specialty recipes and standard guidelines.
Build rapport with regular bar guests, including learning their names and preferences.
Welcome and greet guests, ensuring they feel comfortable and attended to.
Inform guests of specials, menu changes, and answer questions about menu items.
Perform side work at the start and end of each shift, including bar setup and breakdown.
Maintain a clean bar area, including counters, sinks, utensils, and shelves.
Monitor guest satisfaction, ensuring prompt and courteous response to requests and adherence to alcohol service guidelines.
Process payments, including handling cash and credit card transactions accurately.
Wash and sterilize glassware, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation.
Clear and reset the bar top promptly and efficiently.
Assist with restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies as needed.
Report any equipment issues or bar maintenance needs to the bar manager.
Ensure proper portion control through established free pouring techniques.
Qualifications
Minimum age of 21 years.
Effective communication skills to interact with guests.
Working knowledge of beer, wine, liquor, and common drink recipes.
Basic understanding of bar procedures and service functions.
Proficient in basic math skills for handling money and operating a point-of-sale system.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4 to 8 hours per shift).
Capability to lift, reach, bend, and maneuver items up to 40 pounds safely.
Adherence to appearance guidelines and professional presentation standards.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
The Bartender position requires long periods of standing and walking, typically from 4 to 8 hours per shift. The role also involves lifting items up to 40 pounds and working in a fast-paced environment with variable noise levels. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, is essential.
