    Keystone Advisors is looking for an Admissions Manager/Bed Control Coordinator to support one of our healthcare clients located in the Illinois Medical District in Chicago, IL.

    The Admissions Manager/Bed Control Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the inter-departmental functions of the combined Bed Management/Bed Control operations. The Admissions Manager/Bed Control Coordinator will function as the liaison, and technical expert between Bed Control, the ancillary, and coordinating departments to ensure that throughput is optimized from all admissions sources. In addition to functioning as a member of the bed control team, The Bed Control Team Leader will provide direct supervision to the bed control team, coordinate bed assignments and utilizations to include admission, transfers and discharges to expedite patient placement.

    Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:

    Serve as the point person for patient placement. Manage patient flow through the centralized systems and electronic dashboard, to include identifying opportunities to cohort based on misalignment.

    Perform shift transition functions to decrease service gaps and delays.

    Monitor capacity and the patient flow process and participate in system-level approaches for improvement.

    Share timely information to facilitate effective patient flow throughout the hospital.

    Participate in the daily bed huddle in the absence of the designated team member.

    Serve as the point of contact for all physicians admitting patients.

    Facilitate interdepartmental communications to include responding to situations and issues that require communication or interaction with ancillary departments.

    Track and monitor beds which have been Reserved, Furloughed, and Blocked, ensuring that the times allocated for removal does not exceed the established best practice guidelines.

    Coordinate throughput to include evaluation of surgical schedules, and placement criteria

    Organize throughput between the Transfer Center and Hospital for patient placement; coordinate challenging admissions, complex bed requests, and patient flow issues with the designated member of Nursing Leadership Team.

    Place all non-complex, routine admissions according to the established Patient Placement Matrix, and physicians’ orders.

    Assigns specialized care beds requiring ICU, monitors, direct observation, telemetry, direct visualization, and isolation accommodations according to physicians’ orders.

    Monitors system-wide Patient Movement Goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPI), to include but not limited to: Emergency Department boarding times, pre-admitted/special procedures patients, and the PACU surgery schedule to anticipate bed requests.

    Monitor delinquent discharge dates, coordinate with nursing units, and escalate to nursing leadership to produce confirmation.

    Identify Surges during critical capacity, coordinates with Surge Team, to define and operationalize decompressing strategy.

    Reconcile and document all required patient demographic, insurance, and financial data to admit, register, schedule, and pre-admit patients from all payor classes.

    Complete Medicare Secondary Payor Questionnaire (MSPQ) for all Medicare inpatient admissions.

    Verify insurance information for all admissions.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Education: Minimum: Associate’s degree in healthcare related field

    Work Experience: Minimum: One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in a hospital admissions office, as a Bed Control Supervisor or Team Lead

    Licenses & Certifications: Minimum: Medical Terminology , Anatomy and Physiology

    Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

    High level of interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with physicians and administrative and nursing staff.

    Ability to function independently without supervision and establish work priorities.

    Detail Oriented.

    High level of technical skill to learn various systems and operate them efficiently.

    Knowledge of health system, bed control, and interdepartmental hospital functions
