    The CNC Machinist is a dynamic position whose function is to develop, manage, and support CAM programing and hands on machining of metal 3D printed components for Aerospace and Defense applications.      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Program, setup, operate and troubleshoot a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and components based on setup sheets, blueprints, drawings, sketches, CAD or other work instructions
    • Create and/or maintain process documentation  
    • Improve process performance or maintain product conformance by adjusting process parameters
    • Create, modify and/or improve tooling and gaging   
    • Use basic shop math to assist in job functions
    • Work with a broad range of materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys, copper)      
    • Perform product inspection using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, surface plates, thread gages, gage pins and optical comparators and document inspection results.
    • Maintain traceability of product throughout all manufacturing operations      
    • Collaborate with inspection, programming, engineering and project management to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges 
    • Design and manufacture appropriate fixtures
    • Perform basic machine maintenance based on written or verbal instructions, including completing maintenance logs
    • Maintain work area in safe and orderly fashion
    • Practice safe working habits to prevent injuries and equipment and property damage                                             
    • Participate in process and safety improvement
    • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:

    • Strong experience with turning/lathes  
    • Knowledge of setting up and machining cast parts or forgings
    • Experience machining turbo machinery components
    • Some experience working with Heat Resistant Super Alloys (Nickel Alloys)
    • Least common for someone to have but would be good, experience with Okuma P300 controls
    • Ability to read blueprints and drawings
    • Experience with OKUMA MU-5000V-L and MULTUS U3000 preferred
    • 5 years of experience in machining related to AM manufacturing                                                                              
    • High School Diploma                                                             
    • Excellent problem solving, organizational, communication and teamwork skills                                                      
    • Excellent mechanical aptitude                                                                                                                      
    • Experience in MasterCam or PowerMill an asset                                                                                                     
    • Experience machining castings, forging or 3D printed hardware an asset using 5 axis CNC, and EDM machines        
    • Exposure to working within a facility quality systems and codes (ex. ISO 9001, AS9100)
