Overview :
We are seeking a knowledgeable Behavioral Health Consultant with experience in starting behavioral health programs, particularly within an integrated healthcare model. This role involves working closely with clients to assess needs, develop frameworks, and implement behavioral health programs that align with best practices. A deep understanding of credentialing, workflows, and compliance in integrated health systems is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with clients to design and implement integrated behavioral health (BH) models within primary care settings.
Assess client needs and provide tailored recommendations for starting and enhancing behavioral health programs.
Develop workflows, policies, and procedures that support the integration of BH services into health center operations.
Provide guidance on credentialing, billing, and regulatory compliance for BH programs.
Train and support client staff on implementing integrated BH services, emphasizing team-based care approaches.
Stay up-to-date on behavioral health trends, funding opportunities, and best practices in integrated care models.
Monitor program implementation and outcomes, offering ongoing support to ensure success.
Skills and Qualifications:
Extensive experience in behavioral health services, with a focus on integrated healthcare models and program development.
Proven track record of starting or scaling behavioral health programs within health centers.
Strong understanding of credentialing, billing, workflows, and compliance in integrated care settings.
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards in healthcare, including HRSA and FQHC-specific guidelines.
Experience with trauma-informed care frameworks and evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as motivational interviewing.
Familiarity with implementing electronic health records (EHR) for integrated behavioral health workflows.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and organizations.
Familiarity with non-profit and health center environments is strongly preferred.
Minimum Education and Training Requirements:
Master's Degree (or higher) in Clinical Social Work (MSW), Counseling (MA/MS), Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), Psychology (PhD/PsyD), or Psychiatric Nursing (PMHNP).
Licensure in a relevant field (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Clinical Psychologist, PMHNP).
Preferred Training and Certifications:
Integrated Behavioral Health Training – Certificates in integrated care models (e.g., AIMS Center or National Council for Mental Wellbeing).
Trauma-Informed Care Certification – Focus on trauma-informed approaches.
Motivational Interviewing Training – Evidence-based behavioral change methods.
Credentialing & Compliance Knowledge – Familiarity with HRSA, FQHC guidelines, billing, and regulatory requirements.
Work Experience:
At least 5-7 years in behavioral health, with a focus on integrated healthcare models.
FQHC or community health center experience is highly preferred.
This position is part-time and contracted, offering flexibility in work hours. The consultant will have the opportunity to work remotely, with occasional on-site meetings.
