    Job Description

    The Behavioral Health (BH) Recovery Services Coordinator is responsible for the development and administrative supervision of a multi-disciplinary substance abuse /general mental health team that services three NATIVE HEALTH clinics. The position coordinates all services and activities of the recovery services line and supervises the team of recovery staff. The BH Recovery Services Coordinator also serves as a direct service provider and is responsible for outpatient assessment, diagnostic services, treatment, and referrals for crisis intervention and other referral services. The BH Recovery Services Coordinator maintains a well-functioning balance of direct clinical services and administrative activities. The BH Recovery Services Counselor will represent the company professionally and positively to enhance and promote the core values and the mission of NATIVE HEALTH, always exercising the utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in customer interactions.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    1. Provides direction and oversight to the operation of the assigned service location and staff in alignment with NATIVE HEALTH’s mission and strategic plan.
    2. Coordinates services within NATIVE HEALTH service lines as well as with Behavioral Health Coordinators and staff. Promotes the healthcare home mission in all aspects of service delivery.
    3. Provides comprehensive behavioral health care including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up to patients under the scope of substance abuse practice.
    4. Provides accurate and timely documentation, billing, and program audit support.
    5. Actively participates in case staffing meetings and peer review sessions.
    6. Collaborates with the care team and other internal and external health care providers for shared patients to facilitate patient care and follow-up.
    7. Participate in networking/outreach activities to help disseminate information about services.
    8. Supports the organization as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

    1. A master’s degree in social work or counseling from an accredited program or related disciplines is required.
    2. Active and unrestricted AZBBHE licensure as a Fully Licensed professional is required—clinical Social Work (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Independently Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor (LIAC) is strongly preferred.
    3. Three years of specialized experience in substance use treatment and mental health, with diverse populations is required. Experience working with underserved populations is preferred
    4. Two years of prior supervisory experience in substance use behavioral health is strongly preferred.
    5. An active clinical supervisor credential with the AZBBHE is required.
    6. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Fluency evaluation is required.
    7. Professional integrity; excellent work ethic.
    8. Proficient with computer-based applications such as MS Office, Adobe, and electronic health record required.

    Standard Employment Requirements:

    1. Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license during employment. Must be insurable under NATIVE HEALTH’s liability auto policy.
    2. Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class 1 Fingerprint Clearance within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment and retain a valid card while employed with NATIVE HEALTHL
    3. Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
    4. Must provide an updated immunization (IZ) record at the time of employment.
    5. Must have a current (within 12 months) Turberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an annual update.
    6. Must obtain BLS certification within 90 calendar days of employment and maintain certification during employment.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    The following factors are essential to this position, and to minimally qualify, applicants must provide evidence in their resumes that they possess these required factors:

    1. Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, and various treatment modalities, especially as related to substance abuse counseling.
    2. Knowledge of principles and techniques of mental health/substance abuse education, prevention, and crisis intervention.
    3. Ability to provide professional leadership and direction to a care team.
    4. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    5. Ability to deliver strong clinical services to individuals, families, and groups, as related to substance abuse counseling.
    6. Knowledge and competence in supporting the cultural, social, and economic backgrounds of a diverse service population with traditionally underserved needs.
    7. Must be able to work with confidential material without betraying the trust of patients, families, or the agency- in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations, as well as agency policies.
    8. Open to change and willing to lead change within the organization.
    9. Ability to manage competing priorities; excellent organizational skills and good time management.
    10. Ability to provide professionally written or oral reports and evaluations concerning program activities, accomplishments, goals and objectives.
    11. Knowledge of existing social and behavioral health resources available for patient care.
    12. Ability to make independent professional judgments and recommendations for medical, social and psychosocial intervention.
