**Position Summary:
**The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides ongoing hands-on support to clients and care teams treating clients with substance addictions and other behaviors that interfere with their quality of life. This position is primarily responsible for monitoring clients through their treatment episode, supporting the implementation and coordination of treatment plans, and supporting the end goal of a clients living a substance-free lifestyle. The BHT at times may face a variety of problems that range from simple to complex and may need to assist with interventions. Researching, consultation with others, and developing solutions is an expectation and routine part of the daily duties. This position may encounter situations that require sensitivity, flexibility, and confidentiality, as well as the ability to influence others. Additionally, the BHT provides aid to Case Managers, Counselors, Admissions, and other departments as needed.
Position Accountability

Client Monitoring & Support
- Monitor and supervise clients and living areas daily, prioritizing safety, well-being, and program engagement.
- Assist clients transitioning to a substance-free lifestyle, guiding them to treatment sessions and activities.
- Observe detox clients face-to-face every as required by withdrawal management protocol, ensuring their stability.
- Conduct routine inspections, confiscate contraband per policy, and maintain professional boundaries.
Treatment Coordination
- Support Clinical team, Admissions, and other Direct Care staff with client care and administrative tasks.
- Adhere to medication policies
- Complete accurate daily reports (e.g., head counts, incident logs, shift pass downs).
- Recognize crises and provide intervention support per ATA and crisis intervention procedures to keep clients focused on treatment.
Team Collaboration & Problem Solving
- Communicate effectively with staff, contributing to team morale and quality care.
- Research techniques and develop solutions to diffuse situations and enhance client outcomes.
- Perform administrative duties (e.g., filing, answering phones) as needed.
- Provide support in a professional, courteous, confidential, and timely manner to employees or any other individual requiring assistance related to the essential functions of this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician I (RADT-I) or be a Peer Support Specialist.
- RADT-I Certification with CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP or Peer Support Specialist Credential Program.
- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).
- AOD Certification with CCAPP, CAADE, or CADTP.
- Driver's License: California issued.
- High School Diploma or GED: General Education.
- CPR and First Aid Certification: Annual Basic CPR and First Aid certification.
Preferred:
- AOD Certification: CCAP, CAADE, or CADTP.
******Physical Demands:
**Work functions of this position are primarily performed in an office environment with occasional facility oversight. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 25 pounds). Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to include repetitive keyboarding, grasping, and reaching to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and/or standard office equipment.
- Vision: Close, distant, and peripheral vision ability, including depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Verbal: Capable of clearly communicating with fellow co-workers, managers, and clients of the Center.
- Hearing: Hear normal audio range with or without correction.
- Environment: Work is performed in a standard clinical environment with client contact and frequent interruptions. This position may be exposed to bodily fluids, odors, and cleaning products on an occasional basis.
