THE OPPORTUNITY Betterview's Machine Vision team maintains an ever-expanding suite of computer vision models to detect property conditions and identify risk factors using aerial imagery. A model is only as good as the data it's trained on, and that's why we're looking for a reliable and organized Data Annotation Analyst to help curate and expand our library of training data.

Reporting to the Data Annotation Manager, the Data Annotation Analyst will support Betterview's data labeling operations that enable us to continually expand and enrich our training datasets. For example, if Betterview were looking for more imagery containing solar panels on a roof, the Data Annotation team supports these efforts by creating a dataset in which every image in the dataset contains a clean example of solar panels. Typically this will entail reviewing/cleaning data, preparing it for outside labeling.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Supporting data labeling projects both internally and in coordination with vendors to support Betterview's machine vision roadmap

Reviewing imagery to:

• Measure annotation quality (QA)
• Find and rectify mislabeled imagery (data curation)
• Uncover model weaknesses that can be addressed with more data (model improvement)

Processing and transforming imagery and labels to ingest it into machine learning workflows

Contributing to continual improvement of data labeling pipeline with Data Annotation Manager

Creating and maintaining modular library of data labeling instructions for all supported classes, and expand as needed to support expansion of Betterview's product suite

Cultivating deep knowledge of Betterview's machine vision data and leverage it to mine suitable candidates for data labeling at a large scale

Identifying opportunities for improvement of methods and processes to ensure data quality and consistency

Identifying opportunities for improvement in Betterview's data and, together with machine vision colleagues, working to implement solutions

Creating and maintaining internal reports to track quality and size of training datasets over time

Updating tasks in Jira and keep good notes

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR COMPANY

• Experienced in SQL at the level of an analyst
• Mastery of Google Enterprise Suite (Docs, Drive, Sheets)
• Excellent organization and project management skills
• Strong attention to detail and data hygiene habits

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

• Has an analytical mind and a strong nose for data issues
• Has strong initiative, accountability, and is a self starter
• Has an interest in data science, machine learning and/or computer vision
• Has some familiarity with Python/Jupyter Notebooks a plus
