    Company Description

Counslr is a B2B, digital mental health platform providing 24/7/365 text-based mental health support to students and employees at schools, universities, corporations, and healthcare institutions. Users are able to engage in live, chat sessions with licensed counselors, on-demand or by scheduled appointment, within the Counslr mobile app. Our community of Licensed Mental Health Professionals aims to make quality mental health support readily available, easily accessible, and socially acceptable 24/7/365.

    Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the accessibility of quality mental health support, in order to reach the traditionally unreachable and give people more agency in prioritizing their mental health.

Happy, healthy and resilient people make the world a better place! Built upon empathy as a core value, Counslr has cultivated a culture of wellbeing where team members feel valued, motivated, and empowered to bring their best selves to work. We are committed to a compassionate, diverse and inclusive workplace where all are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Counslr believes a mentally healthy workforce is the foundation for individual and organizational success. Counslr has created a community of like-minded professionals that are passionate about maximizing mental health wellness to help people lead healthier, happier and more resilient lives.

    Partner Value Proposition

We partner with top notch professionals to provide the mental health support people need. We help our Counselors reach their greatest potential with flexible work arrangements, diverse work assignments, competitive pay, access to leading industry information and professional resources. This mutually beneficial relationship is key in creating a positive, productive work experience.

    Position Summary

The role of the Counselor is to provide the most professional, ethical and compassionate help to End Users on the Counslr platform. Counselors provide text-based "support" rather than traditional counseling, utilizing our FERPA, COPPA and HIPAA compliant platform. Counselors guide the End User, helping them make decisions and to seek solutions to a wide range of problems. Counselors do not instruct or direct End Users to take a specific approach or path.

In this position, Counselors will offer empathic “listening”, provide assistance in clarifying and reframing complex situations, engage in text-based discussions while offering suggestions, not directions, and provide a range of helpful resources, including coping skills, common practices and other helpful resources based on training and experience in the mental health field.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Deliver Mental Health Wellness Support - Counselors will use their education, training, experience and professional knowledge to provide unsupervised, quality mental health support.
    • Commit to and fully complete work shifts as selected.
    • Provide undivided attention while offering thoughtful and compassionate support during sessions.
    • Effectively communicate via written, text based messaging, using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
    • Record brief session notes in a standardized format within the Counslr platform.
    • Be comfortable and familiar with appropriate steps for dealing with an emergency situation and be able to manage a crisis and engage in suicide prevention procedures.
    • Maintain client confidentiality.
    • Communicate with Counslr Management regarding questions, concerns, and suggestions.
    • Refer clients to counseling resources such as school-specific and/or local community resources, if needed and when possible.

    Working Conditions

The work is completely remote. Counselors have the ability to work from any location within the United States as well as US territories, such as their home, office or another private area with a strong and secure internet connection. Counselors have the convenience of utilizing their own home computer/laptop to actively engage in live text support with End Users through our secure web portal. These 30-45 minute sessions (scheduled or on-demand) function very much like face-to-face sessions, but they take place entirely within a text-based chat on the Counslr platform.

Prior to going active, all Counselors participate in an online orientation program in order to develop a thorough understanding of our mission, approach, standards, services and to learn how to use the Counslr platform.

Counselors set their own work hours! Shifts are 3 hours in duration. Counselors can work as few as 6 hours per week and a maximum of 24 hours per week.

Our compensation scale is market competitive! We provide a base hourly rate for idle time and a higher rate for in-session time. We provide a shift differential for non-traditional/off-peak hours, too. We also offer paid opportunities to work on special projects, such as white papers, blogs, industry interviews, etc. In addition, we also have a malpractice insurance reimbursement program for Counselors.

We strongly believe in professional development and provide access to a Counselor Resource Center and Wellness Toolkit stocked with research and informational tools. We also host virtual mixers regularly with a focus on current topics.
