POSITION SUMMARY
Under the NC Pre-K Coordinator's supervision, the Bi-lingual Program Assistant will assist with program operation and administration and translates materials into Spanish. Program support will include data processing, data entry, and report generation. This position is also responsible for Pre-K application intake, assisting with data management, and providing family and customer support at SSFC's front office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
NC Pre-K
- Assists non-English speaking families with the intake and application process for all other subsidized childcare programs for which a family may be eligible via phone communication and in person.
- Input Pre-K applications that are submitted in person and online.
- Return calls to parents who have left voicemails inquiring about Pre-K or Subsidies Programs.
- Input NC Pre-K monthly attendance.
- Attend any program, agency, or community meetings held via Zoom or Teams.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
- Assist in Diaper Bank distribution and organization.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Attend required meetings and training.
- Follow all SSFC policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Assists NC Pre-K Coordinator in completing & submitting monthly attendance reports to DCDEE.
- Monitor child attendance by the attendance policy & follow up with subcontractors on excessive absences.
- Attends meetings and training related to quality preschool education, customer service, and NC Pre-K.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent. An Associate degree in early childhood education or development or a related field, at least two (2) years of verified office or administrative experience with comparable duties/responsibilities to this job description, and a valid North Carolina driver's license are Preferred.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Customer Service and experience working with Spanish-speaking members of the community. Must be Bi-Lingual with the ability to speak, read, and write Spanish and English.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
The skills required for the Bi-lingual Program Assistant include:
- Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently under varying deadlines.
- Ability to analyze the information provided in monitoring reports.
- Ability to use basic office computer packages (spreadsheet, word processing, databases, etc.).
- Ability to plan for existing and future activities of the organization and coordinate efforts of both the staff and grantees in a manner that helps the organization progress.
- Ability to communicate effectively with crucial individuals within the organization, clients, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to develop information for the public and support the organization's activities.
- Ability to present materials and information in the appropriate written format (formal, technical writing, newsletter articles)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to perform the basic life operational skills of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to extensively use hands to finger, handle, or feel and to reach with hands and arms regularly.
- Must be able to frequently sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of pressure frequently or constantly to move objects
- Must possess the visual acuity to operate a computer terminal and to read extensively
- Must be able to move around the office and be able to access computers from all angles and positions
Job Type: Full-time (40)
Salary: $18.50 - $22.60 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday
