    Job Summary:

    Legal Aid of San Bernardino (LASSB) has an immediate, full-time position as a Bi-Lingual Family Law/Probate Legal Assistant. This position will be in the San Bernardino Office. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to serving disadvantaged populations. We will give preference to candidates who know poverty law and have experience providing services to low-income individuals.

Since its formation, LASSB has continually offered free legal services to the needy to protect their rights and assist them in remedying problems that affect their daily lives. We provide free legal services throughout the vast county of San Bernardino.     · Salary $41,600 - $45,760

    Responsibilities:

    · Interview prospective clients and complete intake and closing letters

    · Assist with document preparation such as unlawful detainer answers, domestic violence restraining orders, fee waivers, discovery, elder abuse restraining orders, preparation of all Judicial Council forms and filings with the court

    · Maintain confidentiality and preserve and protect privileged communications

    · Assist attorneys with e-filing, file organization, and communication with clients

    · Attend training, community meetings, community education events, and community workshops

    · Develop positive relationships with clients, co-workers, and community partners

    · Using LegalServer, Lawya, and other programs, collect and maintain data required under the specific grant

    Desired Skills:

    · Four (4) year college degree

    · 1-year relevant legal experience

    · Knowledge of legal terminology and legal document management

    · Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service

    · Effective oral and written communication skills

    · Accurate typing skills with the ability to type 60 WPM

    · Previous calendaring experience

    · Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it

    · Self-motivated takes initiative, ability to learn quickly

    · Language: Ability to read, write and communicate in English and Spanish
