    JOB SUMMARY:

    As a Front Desk Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional client care in person, on the phone and in electronic communications. You will be responsible for maintaining the flow of patients through the clinic and maintaining good communication with the veterinary medical team. You will be responsible for appointment scheduling, invoice billing, reminder calls, and reviewing instructions with clients at intake and discharge.

    ESSTENTIAL FUNCTIONS & OTHER IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Represent Spay Neuter Network by providing exceptional customer service at all times and maintaining positive relationships with every client volunteer and staff person. This includes welcoming clients and educating them about clinic services including spay/neuter services and preventative care.
    • Maintain database by entering accurate information for our clients and patients including medical history, services requested and services received.
    • Promote appropriate clinic services and route the flow of clients and pets to ensure efficient client care.
    • Assist incoming clients by completing required paperwork, entering information and history in the computer, and ensuring prompt service.
    • Assist outgoing clients by providing all necessary instructions, information and invoices, dispensing prescription items per the veterinarian's instructions, selling retail products and scheduling future appointments.
    • Maintain accurate financial records and balances.
    • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
    • Clean assigned areas on a daily basis.
    • Open and/or close the clinic as needed.
    • Fill-in for other areas/positions of the clinic by performing other tasks/functions as needed.
    • Protect the confidential information on customers and donors.
    • Additional tasks as assigned.

    EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required in both English and Spanish.
    • Proficiency with data entry on a PC platform including Microsoft Office programs.
    • Must be confident around pets (i.e., dogs, cats), be able to handle them safely with patience and gentleness, and use appropriate safety equipment. The use of proper safety equipment is mandatory.
    • Must be able to greet customers and obtain and accurately record patient case histories.
    • Must be able to communicate basic veterinary concepts to clients and be able to accurately relay information provided by a veterinarian.
    • Must be able to counsel clients on post-operative care and the proper use and administration of medications.

    Physical Requirements

    1. Must be able to work standing or sitting for 8 or more hours.
    2. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day with help.
    3. Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly.
    4. Must have reasonable degree of agility to move through tightly cramped areas in various situations.
    5. Must have good range of motion in joints wrist, knees and elbows.
    6. Must have good range of motions in your back including the ability to twist.
    7. Must be able to work in potentially extreme environmental temperatures.
    8. Must have acceptable sense of balance.
    9. Must be able to work and reach on hands and knees.
    10. Must be able to use a ladder and or step stool.
    11. Must possess excellent hand-eye coordination.
    12. Must possess an acceptable degree of dexterity in hands and fingers.

    Emotional/Mental Requirements

    • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
    • Must be able to work under stressful conditions and work efficiently and effectively under those conditions.
    • Must be able to cope with death either due to surgical complication or euthanasia.
    • Ability to rapidly and accurately process information.
    • Ability to delegate tasks.
    • Ability to make decisions.
    • Ability to cope with frustrating situations and remain calm.
