Spanish Bilingual We’re seeking a sharp legal assistant for our busy and growing law firm who can help our attorneys and paralegals assist clients and keep the office running smoothly. You’ll work with the team to prepare a variety of legal documents and handle office correspondence like answering emails and phone calls, scheduling meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. Responsibilities: • Manage office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines • Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested • Ensure client billing is processed properly using daily time records and that you meet your minimum billing requirement on an ongoing basis • Perform basic administrative tasks – organize documents, copy, scan, file • Communicate with existing clients in person, by phone, and by email • Manage paper and electronic files • Prepare files for attorney court appearances, and client meetings and keep them updated • Open and close client files according to the procedure • Calendar deadlines • Serve as a backup for other team members when they need a hand or a day off • Maintain client confidentiality Qualifications: • College graduate preferred • Must be able to type at least 50 WPM • Organizational skills and communication skills are necessary for this position • Some knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programs or the ability to pick up technology quickly These items are non-negotiable: • You must be available to work and be in the office Monday – Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm • Bilingual in Spanish and English (legal proficiency not required) • Must be able to prioritize tasks with demanding deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment • You must have strong administrative skills and be detail-oriented • You must be comfortable working with various computer programs, databases, and systems • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as Adobe Acrobat) • You must be reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain strict confidentiality • You don’t think making coffee or getting our guests a beverage is beneath you or pitching in when there are deadlines or anybody needs assistance • You must be a positive, high-energy team player who is results-oriented – No Drama • Must be able to lift and move at least 25 pounds (File boxes) • Must be able to work with all of clients with the same dedication and respect, including members of the LGBTQ community • Prior office experience is required You should apply for this position: • If you are a people person • If you feel you can work with people who are divorcing • If you are looking for more than a clock-in/out job • Willing to grow or learn new skills • If you think “It’s not my job” is NOT an acceptable response to anyone • If you value the privacy or confidentiality of others or the nature of the work we do • Prior legal/law firm experience is not required • Bilingual Spanish-speaking Required Compensation: $22 hourly
