A large global law firm seeks a Billing Lead to join their dynamic team. The Billing Lead is an integral part of the firm’s accounting team and will be responsible for coordinating and performing all activities related to the billing process, and providing follow-up support to billing attorneys, billing secretaries, practice office staff, and clients in all aspects related to billing, while preparing and analyzing complex client billing, ensuring that all client guidelines, internal protocols, and firm guidelines are followed and enforced. Additionally, the role involves proactive oversight of inventory management to facilitate prompt billing and efficient collections. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities:
- Acting as a liaison between billing attorneys and secretarial staff, practice office billing staff, and clients’ staff by providing expert-level subject matter support; responding to internal and external inquiries in a timely manner
- Communicating with customers to ensure their requests from the billing staff are being met; updating customers on status of tasks and/or projects; liaising with global Billing teams to provide local-level logistical and technical support
- Liaising with local Finance Committee members in support of Finance Committee objectives; preparing for and participating in quarterly Finance Committee calls and facilitating any actionable next steps resulting from calls
- Liaising with the eBilling team to ensure corrective actions are in place for future submissions
- Generating and reviewing Proformas from Elite 3E (pre-existing or generating new charges)
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma, with a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, preferably
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in general accounting practices, including a minimum of five (5) years of experience with law firm billing processes and practices
- Prior experience with a professional services billing operations system, preferably
- Possess excellent problem-solving skills
- Display strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Demonstrate the ability to foster a growth mindset and drive continuous improvement
- Have the ability to work collaboratively, effectively communicate with various teams, and build strong relationships to foster partnerships
