About Naples Classical Academy:
Our mission is to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a content-rich classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue. Naples Classical Academy is a growing public charter school that opened in the fall of 2021 and now serves scholars grades K - 12. Our school follows a classical curriculum that includes a variety of important subjects including history, Philosophy, Language Arts, Mathematics, visual arts, science, music, physical education, and others. The essence of virtue, Western philosophy, and moral character permeates our curriculum as we seek to instill a love for knowledge and learning in our scholars.
POSITION SUMMARY:
**We are seeking an enthusiastic & knowledgeable Biology teacher to join our dedicated education team. The ideal candidate would have a passion for biology and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for scholars. This role involves teaching various topics and **developing engaging curricula, including lab experiments and other scientific investigations; present lessons; and evaluate student performance and help students learn about all living organisms' origin, distribution, structure, and function u sing classical curriculum.

Ability to travel as necessary (i.e. field trips, class trips, trainings, etc.)

Responsibilities and Duties:
Prepare effective lessons, instruct, and motivate students in all course study utilizing classical traditional methods of instruction.
Assign lessons and correct classwork and homework in a timely manner.
Administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
Provide academic interventions for struggling students.
Maintain student grades and student-parent communication via the school’s online grading and communication tool.
Maintain discipline in the classroom.
Maintain a classroom that is conducive to learning, safe, attractive, and stimulates a spirit of inquiry.
Teaches knowledge and skills in one or more fields of science, create and supervise lab activities, and teach students about lab safety.
Regularly communicate with students and parents to discuss student progress.
Participate in required faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
Inspire, praise, and correct students with consistency, care, and interest to encourage academic success and promote virtue.
Work closely with Specialty teachers to ensure accommodations are implemented.
Facilitate student formulation and investigation of questions about the natural world through a variety of discovery labs, shared inquiry, individual research, and scientific data creation and analysis.
In collaboration with Science Department colleagues and Admins
Design and implement standards-based lessons to facilitate critical thinking and mastery of essential skills and understandings
Plan and implement what students will learn, how they will learn, and how they will be assessed in a manner appropriate to the grade level;
Provide regular and varied assessments of student learning to compile accurate grades and properly determine what and how all students are learning.
Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday existence, including scientific research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities.
Instructs students in the proper use and care of scientific equipment, chemicals, and plant and animal life.
Read and comply with the Employee Handbook
Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required- Bachelor's Degree
Required- Knowledge of subject area
Preferred- Possession of a Florida Educator Certification (or temporary) or Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status or willingness to do so in a timely manner
Preferred- Prior teaching/education experience
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, including books, equipment, small packages and supplies
