    ABOUT THE ROLE

    We're looking for an engineer to work side-by-side with Bite's co-founder in a hyper-creative, engineering-obsessed environment. We push the envelope of e-commerce design and technology and we need your help building, maintaining, and creating world-class experiences across Bite's website and other digital presences.  

     

    We’re looking for an ambitious problem-solver who is obsessed with their craft to help us build the world’s most innovative and sustainable oral care + personal care brand.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    • Building high-quality, responsive layouts and components with fun interactions, smooth transitions and tasteful animations
    • Implement and share thoughtful + actionable insights for our website's architecture and design
    • Resident expert in Shopify and E-Commerce development
    • You will be the resident web performance expert, and always be up to date on best-practice
    • Building unique and (sometimes complex) integrations with 3rd party APIs and frameworks
    • Championing good engineering practices
    • Implementing and maintaining analytics + dynamic testing frameworks
    • Maintaining + optimizing our website for contemporary accessibility, SEO standards
    • Perform code reviews and testing / debugging across a variety of devices / browsers
    • Troubleshooting bugs with our customer support team

     

    WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE:

    • 3+ years of relevant development experience in fast-paced environments
    • 2+ years of experience building within Shopify's theme ecosystem (and/or headless e-commerce instances)
    • Solid experience with SASS and writing JavaScript (ECMAS 6 / 2016+)
    • Expert development experience working across JS / Liquid / HTML / Sass / CSS / Vue.js
    • Strong knowledge of Shopify's app ecosystem and experience with deep 3rd party integrations
    • Proficient with build tools, Webpack, preprocessors, and asset pipeline
    • Proficient with collaborative tools like Git
    • Can write well-structured (vanilla) JavaScript

     

    YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF:

    • You love your craft
    • You have a history of architecting, building and maintaining e-commerce sites
    • You have experience with Shopify themes and app integrations 
    • You have a strong desire to learn and push limitations of web experiences
    • You have a strong knowledge of contemporary e-commerce stacks and best practices
    • You have experience with integrations such as Google Analytics, Facebook, Klaviyo, Recharge, Okendo, etc
    • You have a nerdy obsession with delivering exceptional work within the scope of the priorities
    • You have a deep appreciation for, and understanding of good web design (you don't need to be a designer)
    • You take pride in clean, readable code
    • You're comfortable working with various types of APIs
    • You can collaboratively troubleshoot with others
    • You have a thirst for staying up to date with the latest frontend E-Commerce trends and best-practices
    • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • You have a passion for good design
    • Experience with Klaviyo, Twilio, and Recharge
    • Experience with headless e-commerce instances
    • Experience with Photoshop, Figma, Invision or Sketch
    • Experience with Adobe After Effects
