    SHIFT SUPERVISOR - ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS/ DYS YOUTH PROGRAM - VARIOUS SHIFTS

    We are looking for a Shift Supervisor to work within our Alternative Options/ DYS Program in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The Shift Supervisor is an evolution of the Direct Care II staff and is expected to continue to fulfill all expectations of a DCII. In addition to those expectations, the Shift Supervisor will take a leadership role while reporting to the Assistant Director and Program Director. The Shift Supervisor will maintain a therapeutic environment within the residence, this includes meeting the needs of the client in the following areas: safety, medical, emotional, food, clothing and shelter; supervise Direct Care/Relief Workers in those areas and provide support and training as needed; maintain consistent manner in implementing reasonable limits and structure for each client on a daily basis in the residence and in the community; maintain contact with families and collaterals as needed.

    1. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • To participate as part of the management team in weekly administrative meetings
    • To provide direct formal supervision of direct care staff and relief staff
    • To participate in the maintenance and implementation of the Program policies and development.
    • To report any program issues or concerns to administrator on call of the program.
    • To perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Assistant Director.
    • To maintain the structure and milieu of the program.
    • To complete monthly van checks and license validity.
    • To participate in the management and planning for the Program through participation in weekly Supervisor’s meeting, Staff meeting, and quarterly Shift Supervisors meetings.
    • DYS Training Academy training completed within 60 days of hire.
    • DYS Medication training completed within 60 days of hire.

     

    ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES/RECORD KEEPING

    • Knows and understands all pertinent aspects of Agency policies and procedures.

    • Responsible for any cash purchase as assigned by Director or designee

    • Knows and understands EEC licensing requirements as they apply to their shifts.

    • Attends and participates in all required staff meetings and training sessions.

     JOB REQUIREMENTS

      • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
      • Displays sound judgment; Good communication skills both verbal and in writing.
      • Ability to master First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving, Fire Safety and Administering Medication.
      • Works well as a team member, provide direction for direct care workers during assigned shifts
      • Seeks and uses management staff for training and supervision.
      • To attend all staff meetings and all trainings as required by the funding source and/or the Agency.
      • Ability to deal with diverse population at varied levels of management

    Required Skills

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • A combination of two years’ supervisory experience and higher education in a social services degree.
    • At least two years’ experience working with adolescents in a high risk setting.
    • Working understanding of Social Service Agencies and their functions
    • Demonstrated ability to work with collaterals and above Social Service Agencies
    • Must have valid driver’s license
    • Must meet Agency requirements for driving history records

     

    III. PROGRAM AND STAFF SUCCESS FACTORS

     

    PROGRAM FACTORS

    • To be flexible in accommodating forty (40) hours of work per week in order to adapt to the hours required for the program’s operation as planned and requested by the Program Director.
    • To provide supervision as indicated of the consumer’s prescribed medications and record this in his/her progress notes.
    • To work closely with Direct Care Staff to better coordinate and service the consumer.
    • Represents Agency in a professional manner.

    • Patience and compassion; high energy level; self-initiated.
    • Performs well under stress and in the event of a crisis.
