    Organization: Beacon Charitable Pharmacy Location: Canton, Ohio Position Type: Volunteer, Board Member Commitment: Approximately 2- 5 hours per month

    About Beacon Charitable Pharmacy:

    Beacon Charitable Pharmacy is the only nonprofit charitable pharmacy in Northeast Ohio, dedicated to providing essential medications and healthcare services to underserved populations. Our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, has access to the medications and care they need to live a healthy life. We are driven by a commitment to health equity, social justice, and community well-being.

    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual with a strong background or a desire to learn and grow in development to join our Board of Directors and serve as the Chair of the Development Committee. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, donor relations, and strategic development planning, or a strong commitment to acquiring these skills. This role is critical in helping Beacon Charitable Pharmacy expand its donor base, secure sustainable funding, and increase its impact in the community.

    Meeting Commitments:

    Board Meetings: Every other month on the 3rd Thursday from 7:30 am to 9:00 am.

    Development Committee Meetings: Monthly, opposite the board meeting, for 1 hour.

    Qualifications:

    Strong background or a desire to learn and grow in fundraising, development, and donor relations, ideally in the nonprofit sector.

    Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.

    Strategic thinker with a passion for health equity, social justice, and community service.

    Experience in grant writing and managing fundraising events is highly desirable but not required.

    Ability to commit to the responsibilities of a Board Member, including attending meetings and actively participating in committee work.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Leadership:

    Chair the Development Committee, leading and motivating committee members to achieve fundraising goals.

    Work in collaboration with the Executive Director and Dawn Moeglin of Full-Circle Fundraising to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy.

    Have the support of the Development Committee members in all responsibilities.

    Fundraising:

    Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

    Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives.

    Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring effective stewardship.

    Strategic Planning:

    Work with the Board, Executive Director, and Full-Circle Fundraising to set fundraising goals and establish benchmarks for success.

    Provide guidance and support in the development of grant proposals and other funding opportunities.

    Monitor fundraising trends and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs and opportunities.

    Advocacy & Outreach:

    Serve as an ambassador for Beacon Charitable Pharmacy, representing the organization at public events, donor meetings, and in the community.

    Increase awareness of Beacon’s mission and impact, building connections that support long-term growth.

    Governance:

    Participate actively in Board meetings, contributing to overall governance and strategic direction of the organization.

    Ensure that the Development Committee operates in alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
