    Hunt Forest Products in Pollock, LA is seeking an experienced Boiler Operator. This full-time position is just the start to a vast and long-term career in wood manufacturing. This position is only for previous or current boiler operators with a safe work record. This is not a boilermaker position.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for personal and team safety throughout the shift.

    • Eliminate unsafe conditions and report same to supervisor.

    • Proficient in operating wood and gas boilers, be capable of resolving emergency situations

    • Comply with recording requirements such as filling out log sheets, charts, and reports.

    • Maintain a comprehensive cleaning program on grates, boilers and building.

    • Comply with the current boiler preventive maintenance schedule.

    • Monitor and maintain a correct mixture of fuel and air resulting in maximum efficiency and minimum emissions.

    • Boiler operator must be physically capable of performing above mentioned duties in some cases at extreme heights.

    • Perform any additional duties required by supervisors.

    • Interacts with others and performs work in a professional manner.

    • Follow all company safety rules and PPE use.

    • Follow all company rules and procedures regarding daily work activity.

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent minimum; higher education and/or certifications preferred.

    • Must mechanically be inclined

    • Previous experience with heavy equipment operation

    • Ability to utilize equipment necessary for water analysis

    • Utilize and monitor a tachometer

    • Visually evaluate emissions.

    • Must be willing to work in 12-hour shifts; rotating days/nights and weekends/holidays and on call; as needed.

    • Must successfully pass pre-employment testing and background check if given a conditional job offer.

    Physical and Safety Requirements: (This is a safety sensitive position)

    • Ability to work in an industrial environment that includes heat, cold, noise and strong smell of pine.

    • Safely operate assigned tools and equipment.

    • Safely maneuver around moving machinery, uneven ground, steps, ladders and stairs.

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

    • Adherence to consistent hydration schedule.

    • Ability to lift, push, pull and have exposure to various weights of veneer, plywood, landscape timbers, bark and sawdust.

    • Ability to lift over shoulder/head height

    • Ability to stoop, walk, stand, push, pull, bend, kneel, climb as to demonstrate a range of motion needed to complete assigned work during 12-hour shifts.

    • Must be able to hear, read and see directions; instructions and/or signals.

    • Clearly communicate safety issues and concerns as they appear.
